I read the titles, saw something about comparing USB-cables, then just closed the page as fast as I could. Thanks for the read.

But, but, did you see his face?

You paid how much for it?

If you are referring to the Chord Usb Silver Plus, 58 Euros, so it wasn't such a big investment, but the returns were very nice and it went like a glove with my system.

Regardless, pretty funny read, thanks.

Glad you liked it :)

I am not the first, the single or the only one observing the differences brought by that cable. I personally do not care about graphs or scientifical explanations that show me that there are no differences, as I have experienced them with my own ears and know for sure they exist. The only thing I get from those explanations is that they missed something.

And until someone doesn't experience the same set-up it is useless to comment on the matter.

When I have heard of audiophile usb cables, some time ago I laughed at the idea, but...well..experience showed me that they matter.

This is the best explanation i found for the usb cable.

T’S NOT JUST ONES AND ZEROS, IT’S THE TIMING!

There is a fundamental difference between the transfer of computer data and digital audio signals. Computers are able to transfer digital data without loss, because the data moves in the robust form of blocks, which do not depend on specific timing between the sending and receiving devices. However, digital audio signals are continuous streams of data, which are quite fragile, since the digital processor must remain perfectly locked onto the timing of the signal to avoid data losses.

Actually I was right there in the camp of non-cable believers, especially regarding USB cables. What changed it? I did coincidently hear the Chord and compared it to stock USB on my own system, a very different one than Dan has. This needs to be heard to be believed, it's that simple and the difference is outright noticeable. After having this confirmed by several people now, in addition to my own findings, I need no further proof.

Great review btw. I have long been considering the HD800. Too many choices, too soon. :)

I continue to enjoy your journey, Dan! Well written and you have a magic touch with your video clips....Perfect choices!

I will get a listen to the LCD-2's in a couple of weeks when I visit Decware. The Taboo Mk III is designed to be a specific compliment to the LCD-2's. It will be an interesting afternoon there. I'll let you know what I find.

Thank you Razvan. Your thoughts and experience are  similar to mine. And I know how you feel about the numerous choices in a small time interval. My wallet is terrified and doesn't want to speak with me about the HD800 yet:

ironically (not about usb cables, just regular audio cables) i was made a believer in cables because i downgraded my cable by accident. realized after a week that adding a $2 cable splitter to act as a strain relief actually caused the sound to be ever so slightly cloudy and muddier.

So you guys prefer a USB connection in lieu of a streaming option, such as a squeezebox, Sonos, apple airport express, etc? I was using the Mapleshade version of the HiFace USB adapter and really enjoyed the presentation, but I find the streaming options so much more convenient.

Yeah, the bass increased quite a bit, and the sound was a little warmer, and also more detailed.

Hahaha !

I really made that face !

I'm a strong believer in analog cables and not so strong regarding digital cables, while I heard small differences regarding other digital cables, this one (chord) made a big difference and I will order one this week also, it's quite cheap comparing to others and sounds really good.
Dan thank you for your stories, I always found them funny and entertaining to read, keep the good work

I had cables that ruined the sound too.

Thank you DarKu, and not only for this, for everything, as many of these posts are because of you, including the last one. Thanks for lending me the HD800 again
