I visited them today. There was a great collection of cans, the entire Audeze LCD series, HD800S, Mr Speakers, Hifiman, Focal Utopia, Elear etc. There were many high end tube and SS amps. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a small and homely place, much less noisy than Canjam. It wasn’t terribly crowded and i had the opportunity to audition the entire LCD line on the Woo Audio WA7. Great experience.

There are Lcd2F b stocks available for $750 if anyone’s interested.

Are you guys allowed to share the names of the two new headphones being revealed today?

Here's one of them....

IMG_0245.JPG

Not exactly sure what it's going to be called, but it's a closed version of the LCD-2C.

It'll retail for $899, and it should launch sometime in July.

And it is a "dealer exclusive", which if I understood correctly, means that it will only be available from a select few Audeze dealers (but don't quote me on that).

The headphone in the picture is a pre-production version, and the final version should have a silver-ish colored "A" instead of red.

I got to listen to them for a while and thought they sounded pretty darn good! So if you love the sound of the LCD-2C and really wish is was available in a closed-back version, BOOM! - your wish just came true! :L3000:

Thanks for the pic! I don't even want to guess the weight of that one! :D

Photos from yesterday's event! Thanks to @TSAVJason for hosting the event! It was a lot of fun.

The raffle:

Bruce Ball had brought some prototype headphones all the way from Italy from when he went to the High End audio show in Munich. The design is not unlike those of Grado Labs, but they sound significantly different. The bigger silver headphone here has two drivers in a push-pull configuration like a speaker, while the blue one was just one of the two drivers. I liked the blue one out of the xDSD DAC/amp. I think the MSRP of the blue one will be $1730-ish and the silver one $3000-ish.

The new WA-3ES was there, but I didn't get a chance to listen to it.

Ultimate Ears was here featuring the UE Live and new IPX cabling system. I currently use the UE RR as a reference, so the UE Live wasn't really to my liking as it's tuned for a completely different audience. There seemed to be a pretty prominent upper-treble presence in all my test tracks, which is weird because I haven't heard that in any other headphone/in-ear before. The dynamic driver brought some nice bass to the Live though! Also the IPX system feels really nice. There's no memory wire in this cabling system, so there's one less weak point for the cable to break on top of the robust connector. The cable itself is super duper lightweight.

My favorite headphone at the event: the HD820 [Prototype]. I really enjoyed its sound. The bass lacked some extension to me, and it sounded a bit woolly/slow, but it has more presence than any of the HD800 series headphones I've heard. It had an overall very balanced sound to it with a slight upper-midrange brightness to it, but nothing as bright as the HD800/S. It passed my test tracks for sibilance and treble sizzleyness. Imaging and soundstaging actually sounded much more accurate to me using my own binaural recordings compared to the HD800/S, which is really interesting to hear considering it's a closed-back headphone. Unfortunately though the noise isolation still wasn't really that good compared to the last time I heard it at CanJam SoCal. I could still clearly hear people's conversations around me.

What is the silver Grado called?

Oh man, these headphones (the silver Spirit HPs) were a treat to listen to. I don’t know how dual drivers working in a series makes such deep and crisp sounds, but nevertheless it sounded magical!
Thanks TSAV for hosting this event.

What a great event! I was planning to listen to some headphones but ended up attending the McIntosh McMasters session instead. Lots of interesting info about the history and technology of the brand. Engaging and knowledgeable presenter too. Good demos too - interesting to see a 200 W/channel amp peak while playing back a bass drum at what to my ears was not ear-splitting levels. Big thanks to @TSAVJason, @TSAVAlan and the other staff for pulling this together. Here are some McIntosh porn pictures from the event to lust over:
