Crap.
So much for tapping into the Bel Canto's power supply.
I measure 15.24VDC, -15.22VDC, and 14.32VDC.

Edwood,
The Audicom Superclock 3 will work with DC voltages ranging from +9 to +18vdc. Any less it wont turn on, and anymore it goes into protection (Red LED underneath flashes).
The 15.24 and -15.22 voltages are for your analog supply and the 14.32 is for the digital parts supply which then feeds into a voltage regultor and then out to the circuits. Tap the power off the 14.32 supply for the SC3.
Thanks

What are the dimensions of the Superclock 3's PCB, and the overall height of the the entire unit?
Are there better pics of the Superclock itself?

Ah the troubles of deciding. I went through this last summer when I was looking at the Superclock 2, the LC Audio x03 or the Trichord (there was also another one but it was really DIY and though said to be the best, it was subjective to say the least).
I went with the LC Audio clock because Chris Johnson over at Parts Connexion said that 1) it sounded better, 2) it was easier to implement and 3) it was cheaper. The cost would have been an extra hour or two to get the Superclock 2 in there vs. the x03. It was a no brainer, cheaper and better! Cool. Of course, better is subjective without hearing a unit with it installed side by side...but the cost was enough of a deterent for me to go with the LC Audio clock which at the time was more advanced than the Audiocom clock. Now with the Superclock 3...who knows? I bet it would be subtle at best.
Biggies comments are spot on with regards to the LC Audio clock, though it would be difficult for me to pinpoint exactly what the differences are exclusive to the clock or the other 3 dozen mods I had done to the unit at the same time

Also, LClock X03 is the only one of the three that lists any specs whatsoever, particularly listing jitter.

Well, I won't comment on the other products...but that does say something. When I contacted LC Audio, they were awesome at answering my emails and detailing how I might install it, what he benefits were etc. No experience with Trichord but I do remember Audiocom being very helpful as well, though no specs. I like seeing specs, especially with digital devices.

Hi,
From my experience, specifications in audio are not going to tell you which one is better than the other. Other factors such as materials used and implementation are really more critical to the sound. I have used and own every master clock on the market to this point. The X03 (modified) was my pick when the SC2 (modified) was around, but today I would highly recommend the Superclock 3 as it now incorporates a noise cancelation circuit, the components are soldered to the pcb with silver solder and has a much better ground plane implemenatation over all the other clocks. I hear much better pace, timing and rhytym with a larger deeper taller soundstage and emotion and vividness I have not heard from any of the other clocks.

Doug, we spoke once upon a time...altho I didn't use RAM East to mod my older cd player, I think you were right about the super clock 3. I have one in a new cd player, which of course my dealer obtained through RAM (West), and you were one the folks that made me think about getting it. It's goooood.
thanks,

Step 1: Plug power cable into wall. Step 2: Plug other end of power cable into....umm.... Step 0.5: Order something to power with power cable.

What modifications were preformed to the x03 and what did this do to the sound?

Hi Walkman,
I remember the Myryad conversations we had. The MC-100 I did to the guy you talked to on the phone sounded INCREDIBLE!!
Enjoy the new player!!

Well, I ordered a couple Blackgates for swapping out the PSU resevoir caps in my Bel Canto DAC2 from RAM West today.
After they're burned in, I'll be having to pick a clock for the upgrade.
BTW, anytime I try to place any of the FK series caps in the shopping cart at referenceaudiomods.com, I kept getting an error page instead. Weird.

Sorry for the digression within this thread...
Yes Doug, I spoke to that client of yours and he was so very pleased with your work. In the end, I was concerned about investing heavily into a player of such age (manufactured in 1996). I am happy with my modded music hall, and will say this: You modders are great. You offer top notch products, services and results at great prices. Brice at Sound Odyssey has done me good, and it's also a fun process along the way. I've also seen the comments about you/RAM East at both Audiogon and Audio Asylum, so kudos to you for the work you do (e.g. the Toshiba mods).
Again, it was our conversation and some subsequent research about the superclock 3 that led me to spend a little extra and have that particular clock installed in my cd-25. So thanks.

I asked for my Bel Canto DAC2 modding thread to be moved to the DIY forum.
http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showt...1&page=4&pp=20
I had some weird problems that seemed to "magically" go away.
But the Blackgates in the PSU are burning in right now. Sounds nice so far. I'll need to compare to a stock Bel Canto DAC2 to really be sure. I'm a real believer in the placebo effect.
Not sure what else I can do with the PSU before I move onto the DAC board, any other ideas is always appreciated.
