What is Audio-Technica's "best" new IEM for under $100?

They really don't have anything "new" under $100 yet though they do usually release new models second or third week in October.

CKX9 is not new anymore, CKR below the 9 and 10 are rehashes so not really new either. If you don't want to wait, the CKR7(redone CKM model) may be around $100 though importing fee will put it over that price. The IM70 is most likely the best bet...http://www.accessoryjack.com/audio-technica-ath-im70-dual-symphonic-in-ear-monitor-headphones-red.html?gclid=CNjs_5yohMECFeJF7AodKFYAUA

I would recommend waiting as they get better each time and there are new drivers out after the last releases, newest AT sport have a 28 Ohm driver and so does Senn's new CX lower end so most likely some new Fostex drivers. Those are cheaper models though. Senn does have new models first in the Momentum and CX5.00(same driver different implementation) for about $89 and $99 so new AT models in that range can't be far off.

Also, I myself, hold out hope for AT to get on the Hybrid train. What are we kidding, if Sony is doing well with it, AT will follow with their own. Not sure if it will be this fall and what prices will be though.

I would, again, say good things come to those who wait a little longer, esp. at this time of the year :) though if you do go for one, make it the IM70. They have replaceable cables, a good sound, and plenty of Head-fi impressions. They are over the ear only if that matters, a bit big, and red only but still a solid choice.

The new low-end CKR are disappointing. The CKR5 replaces the CKM500 and when I tried at he store, it had bloated bass and sounds overall congested.

Thanks for the tip to wait. Will do. Obviously want something better than my CKM500...not that they need much improvement.

I ended up getting the Denon AH-C560. Although it was first released in 2010 its similar to the CKM500 in some ways, such as the mid-bass hump, but more laid-back and refined. Upper mids are a bit recessed but they sound warmer and smoother in the lower mids. It's a good IEM but not really worth 90$, maybe 70$.

The CKN70 is a step up from the CKM500 but I dislike it's J-shaped cable design.

The IM50 is also step up from the CKM500, but when I heard the IM70 I definitely found it clearer than the IM50. I might get the IM70 next time but I considered it pricey.

Another IM70 impression from a CKM500 owner...http://www.head-fi.org/t/698932/audio-technica-im50-im70-appreciation-and-discussion-thread/375#post_10895425

I have been hoping that AT would jump on the CIEM train

Okay, these might be the best AT earphone under $100 when they drop(IM70 vs. CKB70 anyone??). Should be around $100 shipped when they drop from CDJapan and other places. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.audio-technica.co.jp%2Fproducts%2Fhp%2Fath-ckm500.html

oh wow, hope they aren't a let-down like the CKR5.

Any info on the cable design? Hope it's not the J shape like the CKN70 =/

Bump. Sounds like the IM70 is the IEM to have these days?
