No I do like them. They remind of the Sennheiser hd6XX/650 but with more detail and a larger soundstage. This is a hobby, and I just love trying out different headphones. I haven’t heard many Audio Technica headphones, so I was very curious about these. They can’t compete with my Arya Unveiled, but that’s not even fair as those are 4X the cost.
Never heard an audio technica headphone before but that sounds tempting to try.
Definitely want to try them out myself. I’m personally quite fond of AT headphones. Anyone hear the R50x yet? Wonder how it compares to the original R70x

Looks fantastic, I want a pair.
Something to take note, the r70xa does have some issues for fit already. Similar to the original AD series, they seem to have very shallow pads, and larger ears will have issues. However, if it matters to some people, here is a graph from a friend compared to the hd650
No sound impressions yet, he did just get them!

400-500Hz.. It seems the predecessor had more even low mids
Agree, the look of ADX000 series are iconic and the R70x manage to emulate it well, but I guess they prefer to just make it completely open grill this time that just a plate over the grill is now moved to the hinge now.

Also I think its just audio-technica moving away from the 3D wings. The ADX series and current woodies returned to the split headband design of the vintage M9.
Come to think of it, I think the R70x is actually the newest (and might as well be last) headphones to use the 3D wing design.
Also its quite clear the R70xa is meant to emulate the ADX series but, for some reason I think the R70xa does it poorly.
The R50x and R30x are better looking in my opinion but it might just be due to the simple addition of the audio-technica badge in the center
Anyway, not that it really matters. I'm more than certain the R70xa will sound fantastic and be much more comfortable than the R70x, which is really what matters

Is there a consensus on what pads work for the R70x?
I'd want to try the APos Refine pads for the R70xa, but Apos doesn't sell them separately.
If not, I may have to return the R70xa. My ears and the stock pads don't mix after about an hour.

The pads should be more comfortable after you've broken them in, I can't remember how long that took with my R70x though.

i think rxxx will never be able to compare to adx, cup size is really important, they have massive baffle system, and the driver size is much bigger, 58mm vs 45mm.
