MSR7 clamping force is worse out of the box, but loosens up after a short while.  But even after loosening up, they are still no match for M50/M50x which are generally considered to be very comfortable and designed for extended studio comfort.  If you have problem with M50 clamping force, you will have issues with a lot of headphones, I'm afraid.  M50x earpads are softer, but clamping force was similar to M50.

You probably should look into IEMs, no need to worry about clamping force in there ;)  If you like M50x/MSR7, looking into CKR9/CKR10/CKR9LTD is a good option!

I personally thought that the M50's main comfort flaw was more so the headband causing downward pressure on the top of the head (it only makes contact with top part of the head, plus it's rather heavy, Tyll also mentioned this in his past M50 review) rather than the clamp, which IMO isn't too bad.

Comfort factor is something that really varies for a lot of people though pending on their head shape/size and pain tolerance, so I guess the only way to know for sure is try it for oneself. I for example cannot wear any Sennheiser HD5/6xx series headphones not due to their clamp (which can be improved by bending the bars and IMO not too bad in the first place), but because their oval pad shape lines up with more sensitive areas or my jaw.

Headshape anatomy plays an important contributing factor

The same with a sound since we all have a different perception

hey vlenbo...

How is the bass compared to the ML Mikros 90?  Which one has more sub-bass?

I will A/B them in a few hours. I believe from memory that the msr7 has more subbass (from 30hz) than the mikros for sure. It isn't by a huge amount, but I personally perceive more than 2db of sub-bass. It has just slightly more mid-bass than the mikros90, but I know the difference between the two from memory is that the mikros90 (even with a good fit) has a problem with the mids and highs. The msr7 are definitely airier than the mikros as I heard the mikros sounding a bit closed in, congested. However, the 35mm keeps it portable, and the sound is pretty good and somewhat full compared to the msr7s (though they don't slack off in the thickness of sound as the mids sound just right. Not too thick or too thin).

The soundstage is definitely an improvement on the msr7s to my ears. Great depth, width, and height. The build quality is as good as the mikros.

If you want to save money, go and try out the mt220s. I think that those may be a good purchase in your case, at least regarding lorspeaker's comments about them.

Hi Vlenbo, could elaborate a little how Yamaha MT220 compared to MSR7?  Tonality, as well as perceived detail and dynamic.
Thanks a lot!

I should have been specific, sorry earfonia. I read another thread where lorspeaker recommended them. I feel like they may be worth it due to his experience with them.

I'm probably buying them soon so I can compare them. Sorry about that.

Noted bro!

I'm interested with Yamaha MT220, because many reviews especially from sound engineers, said they are good for monitoring, with reference type of sound signature. But so far haven't got the chance to try them.

Yes, it looks cool and I like that cable management bar, but its design is massive and it takes away focus from headphones. Instead, Brainwavz stand is transparent and elegant, so you are focusing right on the headphones ;) Just a matter of personal preference :D
