Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

To let you guys know, I just received and tested Anker (yeah, that famous battery company on amazon!!!) 3.5mm audio cable with MSR7, and it fits perfectly and sounds as good as stock cable.  I know black shielding cable probably will look better with black headphones, but I don't mind in my case.  Cable is very durable, definitely a great build quality.  The coolest part, only $6.99 and fulfilled by Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R124LAK/

Hi  The metal part (the sleeve where you hold the connector) of the plugs looks quite long, would you be able to measure how long they are?
Been looking for a spare cable for these as well was thinking to go the DIY route, but might just pick up one of these since they fit

exactly 25mm, no issues with fitment.

I'm interested with Yamaha MT220, because many reviews especially from sound engineers, said they are good for monitoring, with reference type of sound signature. But so far haven't got the chance to try them.

Enhanced colored highs, boomy bass with soft and rounded punch.
P.S.: so lovely how many there are headphones with "reference" type of sound signature

Thanks!
You have them?

Nope, I had a chance to listen to MT220 long time ago.
Try Beyerdynamic DT 250/250. This is a nice pair of cans for professional use, or maybe not

anyway, for the price quite impressive, definitely worthy. It doesn't lack bass, have good midrange and non-fatiguing highs. But lacks isolation, if you want to use it on-the-go

If anyone is looking f a hard case, give the AT ANC9 hard case a go. (AUD$39)
Headphonic in Perth, Australia sorted me out with one, and it fits perfectly in the moulded case. Depending on the size of your DAP you might be able to fit that in there as well, my Sony A15 fits fine.

If it really works that well it would be cool of we could add it to the first post of the thread. That way new comers would see it right away.

I can post pictures of the case w/ msr7 inside if people are interested, but will be in the next day or two. It does indeed fit nicely (almost as if it was made for it :P ), and the case is very nice to boot. as for the first post..@lalala6...any help?

Pictures, as promised:

Outside of the case, AT logo, clip (rivet reinforced attachment)
Outside surface is a nice soft touch fabric, something similar to stocking material..

Inside, velcro attached pouch, 1.2m cable fits, and moulded headphone area.

Close up of the moulded area

Finally, the obligatory money shot. As you can see the headphones fit nicely into the moulding.

Available from headphones.com.au - its not listed on their site, but you can contact them to order directly, AUD$39 including Australia-wide shipping (not sure about international shipping)

Alright. I love bright sounding headphones. I love them brighter than neutral, I believe. So I am looking at the ATH-MSR7(LTD). I love sparkly highs. Should I not look any further or should I look at other headphones? I had the AKG K550, which was stolen (long story...), but I loved the sound of that can. Are these comparable to the MSR7? The same with the SRH 940.

As a K550 fan myself (who still has his, and no I didn't steal them from iCupboard) I am also curious about how this headphone compares.

Also if there are any Ety-heads in the house who have heard these, I'd be very curious about how they compare to ER-4S.
