+1
HSR-1000, would still be worth it at twice ($44 X 2 = $88) it's price.

The HD668B is a very good headphone, very balanced, good soundstage, and has a very good price. But it's not fully closed, it's not ''fun'' to listen to, and it's definitely not warm, so I wouldn't go with that in your case.

If you want to stay in these brands, I would pay a bit more and go with the ATH-M30x, which is very nice for its price, fun to listen to, closed, and it has a bit more mids than the M50 for comparison.

Is it really that good?

I've bought my share of lower costing headphones (like 10 or more) and it's the only lower costing headphone that I would still use.
If I had not given them to my nephews.
If Sony put their name on them I would think they could sell for $125.

The 60-Ohm HSR-1000 sounds almost as good as the DT770, but without the need of a dedicated headphone amplifier.
What sources are you plugging the HSR-1000 into?
