I ordered A900X since they have a good price atm. And i guess A900Z will be something like 290$ at the release.

If I recall correctly the A900x debuted around $200, and a year or so later they moved to the $150-$180 price range with the used market gravitating towards $130-$150.

I'm surprised that this thread is so inactive.

Hopefully it won't be in 4 days when they are released in Japan (or at least I think the release date was November 13).

I look forward to seeing how much different these sound. I already have the A900X and love them with their soundstage and great balance. I always hope to see an improvement with each new design.

Btw i just checked, at amazon.co.jp it is 26870 yen (218$ atm). Meanwhile A900X is 11250 yen (91$ atm). Price of the A900X on Amazon is something like 130$ atm so i think we can guess A900Z is going to be sth like 260-250$ on Amazon.com.

I just ordered the A900X delivered for US$125 to Australia and don't think I'll regret it even though these are so close to launch. Price is bound to be near double initially as mentioned, and it'll take a while for people to work out if that jump in price is worth it.

If it had removable cables like my MSR7 I would have waited.

$91 for the A900x makes them a necessary headphone to own imo.

See here's the problem with AT.

For some reason, they really hate to change anything about their flagship" headphones. The problem with the 3D wing design is the seal, right? That's why the A900X (and in the A900Z and A500Z) had the yoke allowing vertical adjustment of the earcups. Why on earth are they not adopting it for the A1000Z/A2000Z?

That said, I'm very happy to see new drivers! Hopefully they'll export these 'fai' drivers to their W and AD series.

That "fai" or Phi is a Google translate error. Audio Technica have always been using φ53mm to denote their driver sizes it seems.
So it seems it represents the standard symbol for diameter, as in "R" for radius.
