The connector on my AD700's is unfortunately broken, so I need to buy a replacement. I love the AD700's (aside from the fact that they look kind of dorky!), but it looks like the price on Amazon has gone from the $105 I paid a few years ago to $156, and as they're kind of old anyway I'm wondering if there's anything better?

What do you think I should replace my AD700's with? Budget is $300 max, but I would prefer to keep it around $150 if possible.

AD700X/AD900X would be the logical next step.

I could also bring up vintage Stax, but you'll need to reach for the $300 end of the budget alongside needing a speaker amp to power a transformer box.

There's also all those AKG K70x/Q701 models people go gaga over here, but you'll also want a headphone amp to back them up.

If it helps, I can offset the cost by buying that AD700. Connector fixes are fairly easy with a soldering iron in hand.
