I already listen to a majority lossless.  And I have the HD650 grills and 650 cable on my HD580s (the absolute epitome of head-fi idiocy) - whoww! did they really make a difference - NOT!

the HD650 grills just look nicer and the 650 cable is the most reliable/sturdiest. No one claims the grills will improve the sound, and many do not claim that cables make a difference.

And all senses are just subjective. If someone gets more enjoyment out of their system, why bother them saying that you can't hear it?

Because they are suckers and need to stop listening to the BS

I have heard people say that the grills and the cable both improve sound.

            First Impressions:

Good detail, but what I really notice difference is BIG soundstage.

            Great unit and build

            Tons of power

I also used to have a EF2 and to me it sounded the same as my computers onboard.

Sparrow better unit and value.  Much more impressions to come later.

LATER:

But I have to say I think I have finally struck gold here, and should be content with this rig for 4 or 5 years I am hoping.

Lol Carl, were you full of it then, or now?

Well then you're a sucker then, eh?

What you should be doing as an "activist" is telling people to experience it for themselves instead of blindly following what others tell them. And to be honest, you are the majority, we are the minority.

Yes, I was suckered into buying snake oil.   But alas, I am done!

Well I updated my last post but didnt see that there were already new pages after it. I pulled out an old Pioneer receiver and plugged my D2000's into them. I have to say that there is no question that there is a huge difference. I was actually surprised at the difference between sound card and receiver. After listening to it, I've got to agree that amps do make a difference. It cleared up all of my major problems with the D2000s.

Crazy Carl, I understand if you are upset, or even if you don't believe in audible differences, but why are you being so hostile about it? Let people believe what they want to believe. Every response isn't "I didn't hear that, not sure how you heard that" but "you're all audiophile snobs and you're wrong." It really is like someone else took over your account. The tone from your first post to now has changed drastically.

exactly, there is no harm in people believing these things. No one is going to blow themselves up in the name of Woo Audio.

What onboard sound do you have?

Well, he is called Crazy Carl!

I don't think he has any experience to speak of, which is one of the problems.   Listening to Music is "Learned".  You have to teach yourself to hear.

For some reason, the audio experience with a better piece of gear is not as big moving up as it is moving down.  But get a piece of Great Loaner gear for a few weeks and then give it back.  Then you really see the difference.  Kinda like getting used to drinking good wine.  You know it's good, but you wonder if you overspent.  Then go back to the cheap stuff and you wonder how you ever drank that swill.

Insert beverage of choice here for the analogy.

Ignorance truly can be a blissful state!

Now I think Carl should join a Radio Shack Forum and go forth and be Blissful.

I believe this is it: SigmaTel STAC9228. Not completely sure how to check though. Looked around control panel and device manager but didn't see it. That was on a review website for my laptop (Dell M1530). It also sounded much better than my Creative Sound-Blaster express card external sound card

Over 100 posts in one day, not bad!

No it doesn't. And upsampling can be detrimental to digital audio.

It only means that it's capable of producing 24 bit, 192 kHz audio, which is industry standard as the highest frequency pitch any organism can create is about 150kHz (whales). We humans can only hear up to 44.1kHz (22050Hz).
It tells you nothing about the quality of the product sound wise. really, stop trolling Carl.

What would Head-fi be without 'em?
