Once I've positioned mine 2 meters away from my ears. The sound was horrible compared to what I was used to.

For me they sound a lot better at 2 meters buts its all depend of your room acoustics and placement/orientation  don't forget you hear the room along with the speaker.

could be although my room is "squarey" and small which is nearly perfect for such small monitors

Guys My Room is 195 sq. feet. and I will sit about 10 feet away from speakers. My room is 15x13.

Guys I have 12 year old 2.1 crappy speakers which is 980W PMPO and they sound pretty loud in my room so I think Rokit 5 or Rokit 6 will be enough for my room. What say guys?

I don't think nearfield monitors are ideal for listening from 10 feet away, but I could be wrong about that.  But just logically, the term "nearfield" implies they are optimized for listening from close in.

nearfield is nearfield no matter the bass size. Most studio monitors are, you might as well look elsewhere, for a pair of bookshelves
