Never really any danger of putting a pair of LCD on back to front of course. But my 2nd hand pair didn't have a balanced cable included so I got mavismodz on ebay to make me up that one.

If you swap these straight over for the XC cups does it give you an LCD-3 or LCD-4?

It gives you something like LCD-X, but AFAIK with little less bass and more air and details.

Love the grill, but i bought a closed headphone not an open one for a reason.

I Check the closed cups and the screws are loose after 4 weeks, so 1 time a month I check them and there is no leakage of sound.
