Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

LCDi4, fourth year on. Only Shure electrostatics beat them

Don't need EQ on my i4. Running on Schiit MJ3 and Yggy MiB. Custom balanced silver Norne Audio cable. New ear hooks work great. No issues. But I don't run anything portable either. YMMV, horses for courses, blah blah.

My 2nd pair of medium ear hooks broke again. Audeze’s replacement kit is so expensive for just another 2 sets of medium and extra accessories. Why couldn’t they just sell the medium hooks separately?

Contact @bradyc100 to get him to 3D print you some hooks. They work great, no more buying from Audeze and they break again 2 weeks later.

Once I get my 3d printer up and running I'm toying with an idea of printing hooks in 2 types of tpu so the breakage issue isn't so bad.

Hooks are the absolute weak point of LCDi4, a terrible design meant to fail. Audeze should have included 50 pairs of hooks, these cost cents, but their silly kit is like 25 euros here, this is just rude.

I agree, and it gets in the way of how often you want them in your ears, which is the opposite of what they are meant to be doing. But when the mood comes, for a quick critical listening and some decent plume on a desktop rig, they make you wonder. Then I put them away, giggle at them in appreciation, and thank myself I keep them around

The 3d printed hooks have a circular base that attaches securely and DOES NOT BREAK. Why Audeze did not make them that way is baffling. Like they kind of abandoned them after the fact.

Lcdi4 doesn’t really have a tune, it can be whatever you want. But that’s just me.
