actually just picked a pair up off eBay on a whim, was wanting something new and unique instead of variations of everything else. I see the cipher cable is out of stock and hard to get, honestly am I missing much versus having a quality amp?

The lightning CIPHER cable is no longer supported. Out of stock in the this case seems to mean “discontinued”. With a Mojo2 I could get close to the CIPHER EQ sound, but had four other settings I used for different situations that I preferred over the CIPHER EQ. Even non-EQ on the Mojo2 was pretty darn good. I never felt the need for EQ out of the TT2.actually just picked a pair up off eBay on a whim, was wanting something new and unique instead of variations of everything else. I'd say this is just a convenience accessory if you Apple and want the Audeze house curve. Otherwise, you'll get better sound out of another dongle dac and cable plus your own eq. I enjoyed Crinacle's when I had mine. Tried the Cipher but my silver cable on M15 was step up.
If you don't want to spend a fortune right away, you can try with the LCD-i3 subjected to multi-point equalization using APO - such tuning brings the timbre and SQ of the i3 to i4 by about 80-90%. The effects are sensational and the costs are incomparably lower.Had moondrop variations before, then gave isine10 + eq a try, loving it.
How is lcdi4 compares to isine10? worth all the money spent?
Also would love to know at what price is good to purchase i4!

Interesting, since what I've been hearing the impression is that there's significant difference between i3 and i4If you don't want to spend a fortune right away, you can try with the LCD-i3 subjected to multi-point equalization using APO - such tuning brings the timbre and SQ of the i3 to i4 by about 80-90%. But already ordered i4 last week, should arrive in few days!

Yeah cant wait!Get ready to EQ and fall in love.
Is there recommended EQ available? or just go with autoeq for starter?
Read through this thread is the best advice. You can search EQ and a variety should come up. Depending on how good your equalizer is, you can dial it in just right. My AK equalizer did this very well.Yeah cant wait!

Keep in mind you’ll ready plenty of posts from those who feel EQ isn’t needed at all with the i4. It’s all going to come down to what YOU like!Yeah cant wait!

It's an experiential journey finding the right EQ starting with none until something sounds strange. Then you search the crinacle EQs. And then you find out just how good this experience can really be.Keep in mind you’ll ready plenty of posts from those who feel EQ isn’t needed at all with the i4. i4 arrived!
Got the improvement that I wanted from isine10 for sure.
It barely makes any difference for some song with basic instruments (bass, guitar, drum only).
But totally different experience when it comes to vocaloid type songs, as the creator put a lot of stuff in it.
Loving it so far!

For EQ I use shoui catemoji's they made for isine10, definitely recommend!
I've been perfecting the eq over the months.
to my ears the entire frequency response sounds flat in a tone generator, the end result is outstanding. it sounds amazingly natural now.
Had a bit of time to do some tip rolling with the i4 I received last week.
Got interesting (good) results using Dunu S&S L size tips, with the inner bore fitting inside the i4's nozzle, would love to hear people's feedback if anyone fancies trying it out
