Agreed. In fact, I would say, the LCD-3 pre-fazor is still one of my favorite headphones of all time. Doesn't have the detail, air, and soundstage of all the new stuff- but the tone and timber is not to be compared by ANYTHING IMHO. The smoothest, chocolatiest presentation I ever heard. totally addictive...the 4z doesn't really get much attention these days, but there's a good reason why Audeze have not discontinued them...

Yup, I listened to one being powered by an ALO Audio Studio Six and it was by far the best thing I've heard around that time.
Would be great if the press revisits great HPs such as the 4z and 3F to see how they get on with newer sources/amps.

I'd love to see the 3 and 4z etc re released as a mkII or something in the new MM500/LCD5 style chasis and yokes. I'll skip whatever payments due that monthYup, I listened to one being powered by an ALO Audio Studio Six and it was by far the best thing I've heard around that time.

You mean 3C??? Not 3F....Yup, I listened to one being powered by an ALO Audio Studio Six and it was by far the best thing I've heard around that time.

I assumed 3C = 3 Classic = 3 Pre-FazorI have no idea what I meant. I think that was just a straight typo.
I once owned a LCD3c. Pre-fazor. Awesome headphone. I traded that one in on a LCD-X. I always wish I had kept the LCD3, not saying the X was not good, it was a killer headphone, still have it, never use it since the pads started crumbling, need to get those replaced. Anyway, there are those cans that are classics that you just know you need to hold onto. The LCD3 was one of those and I didn't keep it. The LCD4z is another one and not making that mistake again.
BTW the X was (is) one of those hard rocking headphones, I can attribute some of my hearing loss to that headphone as I used to listen to rock and metal at elevated volumes quite a bit and should not have been doing so. It just belted out the tunes so clean it was hard not to crank it up.

I just noticed here in a Australia that the distributor of audezes, ie their retail store of addicted to audio, only has a demo unit listed. Nothing else.
And the other major headphone store has no 4z listed anymore. Any news in the wind?
anything similar near your way

Anyone using the 4z with EQ? I'm curious to know what settings you guys are using.

Gosh what a sad day that will be if Audeze ever stops offering 4z for sale. I hope the drivers on mine stay intact and functional forever. Especially with the new pads, see no need for EQ at least for these old ears LOL.

Your right. Such a great headphone. But I may still put mine up for sale. I need to reduce my collection.

Should be fine. most of the offending pieces are a handful of early units
ref to discontinued drivers, I think Audeze do not offer LCD-4 anymore as know it with the wood cups, but you can still order it direct from Audeze with a magnesium chassis like the 4z. Seen a few people do this in the LCD-4 forums.
My only complaint is that the LCD-4/4z community is a bit more on the quiet side these days

after the australian importer (addicted to audio) listed its demo unit of the 4z i spoke to another seller (minidisc - probably 2nd biggest here behind the importer) who also sold their demo 4z and they are under the impression that the 4z has been discontinued.
because the 4z is still on audeze website i am wondering if it’s days are limited and/or if it is only made to order with stock levels being kept at a minimum by audeze themselves
something new for late 2023, perhaps?
