Audeze LCD-4

Roon on Mac works great. I use it and the Reveal EQ settings included with my LCD4 and CRBN.
Please tell me you are not using those Audeze Preset EQ settings in Roon because its horrendous imo.

@planar shill I just think an LCD 4 is a perfected ZMF sound signature.

I am an LCD-4 goon, and I often think people are crazy for selling them. Which ZMF models do you think sound like LCD-4?
I'm not saying they sound exactly alike but if you look at something like the Caldera they both go for the warm, lush and thick sound signature. The difference with ZMF headphones is that they have a plethora of different pads you can try which will change the sound signature depending if you like a brighter or warmer sound.

I've tried the Caldera several times at shows, and I find them a little thinner than the LCD-4. I prefer the Atrium for it's richer sound. It sounds more natural to me. It's closer to the LCD-4 in fullness I think, though probably not in detail. I haven't A/B'd them.

I do use the Roon EQ. I rather like them. Of course sound preference is just that, a personal preference. So your opinion is valid for you. I'll let others decide for themselves. Easy enough to try and toggle on and off.

It is a Verite, closed version. I was just disappointed in the staging and detail retrieval. It was not really my thing. I sold them only a month after buying, long gone now.
Same feeling I had. No comparison to the Audeze brand IMHO.

Norne cables, not Nord! Haha.

Find them used, they're not going to make anything sound better. But they WILL look very cool.
I have one of these for my LCD-4 as well, got a Vygarde last year. Honestly, didn't notice a change soundwise, but the build quality is superb and the cable is incredibly flexible! Well worth the cost if you can swing it, although you could probably opt for the cheaper Drausk and get the same great build quality.

I suspect there’s a different level of smoothing between graphs but I can happily listen to the 4z stock without any EQ whereas my LCD4 needs a lot of EQ. A single high shelf on the 4z makes it practically flat. The 4z sounds much better to my ears and doesn’t need to be driven by a nuclear reactor.

Has anyone tried Chord Anni with LCD4? Can Anni provide enough power to drive them with authority?
I haven't but I doubt any portable amp would be powered sufficiently to drive an LCD 4. The LCD 4z will be fine with portable amps though for the most part.
