What are your thoughts about tube amps with the LCD 4s? I have the icon audio hp8 mk2. The rep from simcoe audio had asked if I was using the icon with it but haven't yet actually. The lcds are 200ohm as you all know, and the icon states that it can drive up to 600ohm, but I'm a little leary of this claim.

Mark M. @Audeze emailed me May 20th they have a bit of a backorder on the 4s. He thought it might be about 2 weeks to catch up. That will be the end of this coming week. Looking forward to a shipping notice...
I run my LCD4's on a Woo WA5 amp. This is a 300B SET amp, and I think the LCD4's sound fantastic on it. Opens up the sound stage but never loses any of the bass slam or extension.
So I just talked to Audeze and they said the serial number matches but was shipped with ebony rings. My authorized dealer got them from Erikson, the distributor for Canada, originally sold as demos to HI FI City (now out of business), and Adrian at Simcoe said they switched the rings to zebra wood. They were manufactured and sold in late 2017 to HiFi City and then Simcoe Audio Video bought them in 2018 at a show from Erikson.
Ok, turns out Erikson the distributor switched the ear cups as an authorized repair center for Audeze. Simcoe reissued the invoice stating they are zebra wood customs with the units' serial number. The owner of Simcoe has stated again they have full warranty if anything were to go wrong. I guess it can't get any better than that.
And they still sound very nice.

Anyone selling any upgrade cables for audeze? Kind of scarse on the used market.

Dunno, I'm using the stock black and white one. I have a pair of empys showing up today and it will be neat to compare the 4s with them.Wywires platinum a good cable for 4z

Great pic, but, um... I think you're using the isolation spikes wrong...
Haven't heard the Wywires, but can highly recommend the Norne Audio Silvergarde. Very balanced, with an improved(expanded) sound stage over stock. But I will say the stock cable is no slouch.

Could I please have some amp only recommendations for £1k or roughly $1300. Is there anything at this price point that will work well with the LCD4? Much appreciated. I like a smooth top end with plenty of bass slam.
Lol yeah.Great pic, but, um... I think you're using the isolation spikes wrong...
