Audeze LCD-4

I don't feel like the LCD-4 is two dimensional at all. Playing certain songs I have to check behind me sometimes.

Exactly my thoughts. The soundstage is very realistic and holographic. I found myself looking behind me lots of times, as they really startled me on some songs. To say that LCD-4 has a 2d soundstage....is just off in my opinion.

Bare in mind, I listened to them side by side with HD800 and HD800s. LCD-4 managed to transpose me on the stage better than the other 2.

Listening to "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5 right now and it sounds like the instruments are literally on both sides of me and Jackson is in front of me.

It has a good stage compared to previous Audeze phones, but I still think the HE1000 got the sound stage perfect out of the headphones I've listened to.  HD800 is massive but unnaturally so.

As much as I like the HE-1000 and still own it, I prefer the soundstage of the LCD-4. It feels like it has the wide, natural soundstage along with the intimacy I crave.

the HEK and HD800S have much wider soundstages for sure but i have had several moments while listening to my LCD-4's where I had to look around because i thought i heard a voice or sound from somewhere else.......

The LCD-4 has much more depth than either. I still feel like it's as wide, or very close though. I wouldn't say much. I've done direct comparisons and did not miss any width. Maybe a small detail here or there, but I would call that close.

Been listening to a lot of AC/DC and Led Zeppelin lately. Fantastic.

Awesome music for a great pair of headphones! There is hope for the younger generations!

For those who are interested, in the attached link, Tyll cordially allowed Audeze to post their finding and opinion on innerfidelity LCD-4 measurement.

I agree with that.  Loving my gsx mk2 with the lcd 4s.  using a hugo tt as the dac.  the only issue is I'm getting much less sleep...

Small world...that's my main rig for the LCD-4s and it is definitely sleep depriving.

A very nice article by Audeze.
As I see it Audeze has a much better measurement techniques and equipment compared to Tyll's and that is understandable.
Guys just check the "More measurements, Checking and Double-Checking." part, it's crazy how many equipment they use for measurements.
I certainly believe what 8-10 testing equipment will show close to true measurements, compared to what a single equipment will show.
I for one, didn't heard the dip the Tyll was talking about. To me the treble was excellent, detailed but smooth and inoffensive, exactly how treble sounds in real life.
I played drums when I was younger and I know how a cymbal sounds in real life, and that sound is close to LCD-4 than to HD800 for me...

I completely agree, the LCD-4 nails it. I think Tyll should give this a true look.

he gave audeze a right of reply and published it at his blog. he will be investigating the issues that audeze has raised, which is commendable. however, he doesn't resile from his subjective assessment of the lcd-4's treble as expressed in his review and nor should he as that's how he hears it.

Hey,nothing says a person has to like one set of cans over another....Tyll likes the sound of the HD800S which is a completely different sound which i also own.....I happen to love the LCD-4 but can understand others liking a different sound....no reason to make a big deal out of it...reviews are subjective things after all..i do however agree with his take on the Moon Neo 430!
