Not sure I should be telling you guys since Zach emailed me an update on my order.

They are getting Camphor wood either by the end of this weekend or the beginning of the next week.

He even sent me a picture with a quote on the wood's characteristics:

"Just about the same density with Cherry with tighter pores for a slightly faster sound and really nice "air" to the timbre. In a short time it's become on one of my favorite woods."
I was also wondering if it should be kept under wrap for now, but since you've let the cat out of the bag... mine shipped yesterday.

That's a handsome wood. I like it's darker tones over the Cherry.

If the headphone is bought directly from us we will warranty the driver without restrictions for no cost but shipping.

My Eikon is awesome.
Deep natural bass. Organic plump mids and vocals. Highs now just right after a little burn in--all there but sweet and non-fatiguing. No aspect of the sound is out-of-place. And there is just something special and real overall that draws me in. A uniquely good headphone and not just good for the price, but truly competitive against those at any price.

Up late finishing some work. I did want to speak to the "Camphor" rumors quickly. We will make an official announcement in the coming week, but Camphor will be a stock wood, not a limited edition. I found that our supplier sometimes had a short wait time on Padauk or Cherry and that it would just be wise to choose a third wood so that we always had stock of something to ship out. A number of people on our order list have been notified about the Camphor and were able to switch their orders. Anyone else on the current order list can switch to Camphor for no cost. The list price will be the same as Padauk, $1099 for the Atticus and $1399 for the Eikon.

I will add more info about Camphor later both here and on the website. The two notes I can think about Camphor off the top of my head are that is has widely varying grain and color. It comes in all sorts of greys, reds, browns, amber etc. If you want your cups to look exactly the same this is not the wood for you although we hand pick out every set to look as nice as possible.

It finishes beautifully and smells really awesome when we are sanding it. I found that Lacquer does not work well on it and doesn't bring out Camphor's natural beauty anyways.

Our OFC cables are also just about done and I will get all the needed info up on that as well.

Hey Zach, the Camphor looks stunning. Any plans to add more woods in the future? If so, would a current owner be able to pay you to install a new pair of woods cups for a fee? If you ever did a run of Cocobolo or Quilted Maple, I would be all over that.

Unfortunately there won't be any sort or "wood exchange" program. Re-doing any headphone would be as much or more than the amount of work that it takes to build a set from scratch, as we would have to do dis-assembly as well as re-assembly. I am currently contemplating ways to add more woods without adding weight. Camphor is a great balance of a very light wood (lighter than even cherry) with a nice fast and wide sound.

Edit: Camphor also often has the beautiful "iridescence" that padauk has.

Camphor will be officially listed in a few minutes!
