Anyone tried either of these phones using the Benchmark DAC1 built-in amplifier? I am interested to hear your comments. --Daniel

I owned the W1000 and benchmark for about 1 month. It's a bright and analytical combination. Not enough bass and the midrange felt sucked out. The only music I truly enjoyed with the combination was baroque classical.

Edit: I really enjoyed the W1000s but did not like the benchmark.

The W100's are very different headphones than the current W1000's. I heard a well-worn pair of W100's out of the Benchmark, and it sounded too warm & slow for my tastes.

Although I never listened to the W1000's out of the DAC1, my experience with both at separate times would lead me to conclude that Mneuwiueyagaobcf's experience is spot-on - too bright.

The W2002's with the Benchmark were just right.
