I am looking into purchasing a pair of headphones that can kick the crap out of beats by dre, and I have narrowed my search to these two. Any ideas?

Neither, because I've owned both, and they're both extremely uncomfortable, especially the Audio Technica.

The AKG K167 / K267 (same phone but with metal housing and adjustable bass response) is probably the best for what you're looking for.

I own the mk2's and I like them, but I noticed problems with the build so I returned them. How do the lp's compare to the mk2's?

LPs are more comfortable, but they basically sound just like Beats.

Tus-Chan, have you ever manage to try those K167 before? If so, did you notice any hisses after each bass has ended? I tried ones & I noticed that problem. Kind of turn me down. or is it because it didn't get enough burn-in?
