I'm ready for my entry into the world of hifi. I'm a bit of a basshead but could settle for less. My favourite genre is edm but i also listen to classic rock every now and then. I live in Canada and can get the M Audio q40 for 200$ the Ultrasone Hfi580 for 150$ or the ATH M50 for 130$

i was originally going to get the ath m50 but was told the mids were recessed and was soon directed to the q40. I was told the q40 sounded like the m50 with better mids.
I didin't want to spend 200$ and was told it has bad build quality. and eventually found the hfi 580 for 150$ but was told the mids and treble are subjective and to some people may sound awful.

-My question is is the q40 worth the extra 100$ over the m50
-is the Ulrasone worth considering or are the mids and treble awful
-how is the ultrasone vs the q40 or vs m50
-Which one would you consider the most worth it
-Is the build quality of the q40 any good

I do not have an amp at the moment.

Thanks for your help :)

The Q40 is only $99 on their website. Shipping is an extra $8 or something. Looks like shipping is $68 to Canada.

TheQ40 should only be about $120 on Amazon.

The only thing that worries me about the Q40 is, M-Audio was recently aquired by inMusic, so I'm not sure about the fate of the Q40.

Just go for the M50 if you don't want the highs on the HFI580
