currently i own the DT1350. but want something with more "soundstage" which i have not experienced before as i never tried a full size headphone.

after doing much research and seems the AD900 is the best for the money. i was looking for the AD900 which said to be all made in japan. but can't find any to buy. i am always reluctant to buy chinese made stuff. the dt1350 is great quality stuff should last a long time. almost never have any japan made stuff fail on me.

but seems like the 900X is much better than 900 and much cheaper. ebay new 180 bucks shipped.

question is are some 900X made in japan or all china even if buying directly from japan?

also sound stage is same between 900 and 900x? if 900x is cheaper and better on all aspects then i am gonna take one. is it magnesium all over too?

anybody? doesn't seem like the 900x is that popular? so many good reviews saying it's the best for this and that. just want to make sure before buying.

The Chinese are evidently producing good headphones.

Of course, this wasn't always the case.

But the much-praised Denon 2000's, 5000's, etc were made in China.
The AKG 550's and 551's are made in China.
I'm pretty sure that Sennheiser's highly regarded 598's are made in China.
And now, AT is making the ATH AD900X in China.
I have a pair, and while I don't love the sound I can't fault the build quality at all.
In fact, it's better than the Japan made ATH A900's I owned a few years back.

I can't speak to the difference between the two, but I will say that I own an AD900 (not X) and the build quality is quite good. I'll also say that if you keep your eyes peeled, you can find one refurbished at a very good price (I got mine for $99 with AT warranty).

That being said, the general word is that the AD900X is superior in comfort and SQ.
