when you say 2000s are you speaking of the ad2000s? The ad2ks are a little louder to me at the same volume in the mids than the a900s. maybe yours need a little more burn in. I was speaking of the denon d2000s which are not supposedly very DAP friendly

I mean ad2000's. Maybe I'm just forgetting something. I'll confirm it later.

Just did a three way comparison between the ad2000, the a900, and the grado sr60 on the ipod 5g 80gig headphone jack. The ad2000s are definitely the loudest at the same level than the other two. the sr60s and a900s are about the same loudness at the same volume with the a900s getting an edge on bass volume.

Every day I trip out on these phones. I'm not into techno but I dl'd some crystal method just to give my phones a workout and it sounds amazing. The bass gets so low and....I don't know....just wow. It has torque and liquidity for lack of better words. Really twists your brain. The only thing that could be better is the trace of harshness they get sometimes with certain types of noise like some cymbals and a little of this and that, but I think if they changed that it would lose something else in the process so I can live with it. Then again I have weird ears that are sensitive to weird things. Like pieces of styrofoam rubbing together almost makes my teeth hurt for some reason. I love the phones. I'll have a gilmore lite in a few days and I'll post on the changes if any.

yes, and a different headband which leads to more clamp force, and a slightly different sound signature apparently.
