Hi, thank you for your great review. I am gonna get one new sound card. I have been using X-FI Fatality for a few years.

I have a question. I am using Shure SE530 earphone. Is Asus STX II good for my earphone?

Thanks.

The Asus STX II should provide better audio quality over the X-Fi Fatality.
The 36-Ohm SE530 earphones will work decently with the STX II headphone output's 10-Ohm impedance.

I am searching for an STX upgrade, but i am not sure what i should get...

I have a AKG 702 and i love the great soundstage and i also wanna an op amp what gives me a better soundstage and maybe a little bit more punchie bass.

I heared the muses 01 or 02 have a good soundstage but what would better for my taste?

I also heared good things in the essence tweak thread about the LME49990, can anyone describe me the differences between muses01/02 and LME49990?

Well,For now,I gave one more chance to the ZXR with AD827SQ in the I\V....HOLY CRAP they sound awesome.
the bass is tighter than the Muses02, the soundstage is wider with more space.

One thing for sure,The STX II cant match the ZXR for channel  seperation.

I've Updated the first post for everyone convenience.

does anyone with experience recommend the asus over a schiit stack for sennheiser g4me zero (or something else) for mostly gaming?  I primarily plan on playing games with this setup.

Sound Blaster Z or Essence STX are about the best value for sound cards and can drive the Senn G4ME ZERO headphones.
You can find both used on eBay.

Any idea how 3x8920 or 3xlme49720 would sound? I am interested in both cards but I don't want to spend another 150€ for opamps...maybe a 3rd 8920/49720 hence the question =)

The LM4652 op-amp used in the STX's buffer slot is a relabeled LME49720, so you would only need 2 LME49720 ($4 each) for the two I/V slots.

AD797BR op-amp, around 14 euros each, so 42 Euros for 3.

You can always read up and ask about op-amps for the Essence STX on this thread.
