So the oppo can be as good as e3?

I'm guesting they would be both good, but it hard to say which one would be better as they are base on 2 totally different DAC chip. Both would sound different to one another.

E1 was 385 euros or $600 or 350 pounds

E1 muses was 700 euros or $900 or $600+ pounds

I guess if this is 1600 euros then it will be around $2000 and around 1200-1500 pounds

Has anybody compared it to muses edition and/or other sub 3k usd DACs?

On one of Polish website about pc hardware appeared review of Essence III: http://pclab.pl/art55483.html
If someone is interested in I can translate some bits (but personally I don't consider this website as 100% reliable also they likes to use very "smart" words which tells absolutely nothing about product).

EDIT:
I found another (Polish) review: http://www.highfidelity.pl/@main-1869&

It says the dac and amp are both better than nuforce dac 9 (I translated to English using Google Translate) which costs 1095 pounds. Doesn't mean much since this is more than 1.5x what the nuforce costs.

Also, headphone amp out impedance is probably 10 ohm again, so orthos and other headphones below 80 ohm won't be ideal. Will be good for 80+ ohm beyers, senn 6xx/700/800 I guess.

I wonder if the DAC has an internal jumper like the MUSES to remedy this. IMO it should, bloody thing cost and arm and a leg plus a kidney!

I am reading it now and only thing I found is that it is possible to bypass volume control. Also volume controls have quite big steps which may be a issue (but they should be perfectly balanced).
