I'm planning on getting eather the ak120 or the new jr,

I mainly listen to rock and classic rock,

I have a medical device in my head in which I can't use headphones because of strong magnets, so I'm stuck with IEMs,

What what would be a great detailed pair of IEMs? (Preferably under $1000) I do like the shure se846 tho.

PS: I've recently gotten into audio because of a amp and dac by Schiit I got acouple years ago.

Bumpady bump bump. I know there's like a couple of hundred thousand people on "Pictures of your portable rig" who could answer this.

I'd rather cough up some more money for a used AK100ii because the AK120 is 20 ohm and imagine pairing that with an SE846 that's 8 ohms...  I just don't think the AK JR is worth it either. Spend a couple hundred more and you can get an AK100ii. Just my 2C.

In terms of iems I would stay the JH13 or Angie. I like them both.

Only the first gen AK100 is 20 ohms, the AK120 and AK100MK2 are both 3 ohms.  The AK Jr. is a very good entry with a refined UI.

Ah I apologize, I was misinformed. Thanks :).

I've used the ak120 and ak100mk2 with the se846 and they both pair very well. I would highly recommend the combos.

Tbh I haven't owned any other high end iems so I haven't done any comparisons. I did not feel the need to do so.

As a side note the AK120 rated better in reviews than the newer ak models with the exception of ak240.

I have a nasty AK100, but it is mounted to a CEntrance GloveAudio A1 - so it is a transport only, but the amp/DAC in the Glove is solid - plus it is balanced with 2.5 TRRS & RSA connectors - headroom up the ying yang.

120ii with the SE 846 is a dream match. Try and get the 120ii. I also listen to music with more bass and you won't regret this setup!!
