Another function I would love to see in the SR25 is the Bluetooth receiver. I have it in the Sony Nwa-55L. With it, my non wireless headphones like the Sennheiser HD 599 can also be used as wireless also benefiting from the receiving dac and amp of the Sony. I use for example to watch YouTube videos on the Telly connected with an Apple TV through Bluetooth to Sony dap and headphones.
I do not know if that function could be implemented in the SR25 with firmware update?

do you know if I playback from SR25 via bluetooth I'd be listening to a sound that bypassed SR25's DAC? or is there a SR25 DAC -> BT ADC -----> transmission -------> BT receiver DAC?
I don’t think that bypasses the SR25 DAC, and it would probably work. But I don’t understand why you don’t just plug your headphones into the SR25 and be done with it? Or not bother with the SR25 and use whatever the BT receiver DAC is?

Seems like you’re making it too complicated, and adding BT to the chain just degrades SQ..

What I understand is the DAC is always processed at the receiver end whichever bluetooth method you are using.
The SR25 DAC will only be used via analogue output through the 3.5mm and 2.5mm ports.

I'm wondering if the SR25 has any kind of 'smart' charging/battery management capability?

For example, if I leave it with the USB-C charging cable connected, even once it gets to 100% battery, is it smart enough to stop charging the battery while still drawing power to functioning as DAC or DAP?

I think I've seen other portables offer this kind of thing, iFi micro iDSD BL comes to mind..

Reason I ask is that I've now got a Schiit Asgard3 amp on my desk, and the SR25 is (for now) the only source I've got.
tbh, I might keep it this way for a while, it sounds so eff'ing great! :dt880smile:

Yes, the SR25 can be left plugged in and the player will stop charging when it reaches 100% charge.

Just tried plugging in a USB C cable to the SR25 to my dac/amp combo and the volume indicator maxed out at 150 automatically. Is this supposed to happen?
I think so. Same thing happens when I plug in Paw S1. In this case, SR25 becomes a transport with everything handled on usb-c end side.

Out of curiousity, is there any difference actually if I plug and play music through the USB C on the SR25 vs the USB C on my Macbook Pro for example? Both playing Tidal and everything else is the same.

Amazon Music HD was released in Canada yesterday.

Signed up and downloaded to my SR25.

AMHD says the device is limited to just 24/48. Shouldn't it be able to go up to 24/192 at least (which is how some Ultra HD songs are formatted)?

EDIT: here's a 24/96 track being down-sampled to 24/48.

Try to play a local 24/192 file from SD before opening Amazon HD. For my SR15, that seems to work.

Worked, thank you!

Received my SR25 2 weeks ago. Use it mostly with Tidal off-line and balanced. Great battery. Was coming from a Dragonfly Cobalt. The 2 big differences are to be away from the phone and INTO the music and the 2.5mm balanced that has more punch and texture. Anyway great device😀

Has anyone tried the SR25 with HiFiMAN Arya? Is there enough power? Sound impressions?

I ended up purchased an HEX v2, so I'm guessing I should be fine.

However, I'm realizing that (with the case on, at least) I often have a difficult time with pressing the correct back, pause and play buttons. It's truly annoying.

Anyone else have this issue?
