Astell & Kern SR25: The next A&norma player

Hi Neil,
I do not EQ my Sennheiser, so no help there. As to going balanced I clearly recommend it. The balanced output is twice as powerful and imo it also sounds somehow better. I bought a balanced cable for the HD599 from Aliexpress (generally not a fan) from gongheyfacai Store and works wonderfully.
As to closing the apps, if you slide your finger down you will see if the app is still open, if it is you can close it by sliding it to the left.
Hope it helps
Thanks looking and it’s hard to find one that is compatible. Found one on Amazon that called out HD1/momentum’s but not explicitly the 599s.

Anybody who lives in the UK beware of this company called Home AV Direct. Who do not acts fairly with their clients. I bought A&K SR25 and it stated clearly on their website that the warranty was 2 years. I contacted them because of a fault with the machine. They are now saying this was a mistake and it should be 1 year - in fact, they changed it on the website this afternoon. One of the reasons I chose them was because of the 2 years warranty. They are refusing to honor the 2 years warranty and expecting me to pay for their mistake.

Thanks for this, I won’t be buying from them with this sort of business conduct.

I would recommend reaching out directly to our UK team to make them aware of this - https://www.astellkern.co.uk/contactak

I did that already. They offered to fix the problem with the device. But were not helpful with the warranty. This is a point of principle. Companies shouldn’t advertise one set of conditions and then change their mind.

@JasonNYC

I can confirm I myself checked their website only yesterday and it did indeed say a two year warranty and it has done so for a longtime, and I have just checked tonight and they have indeed changed it to say only a one year warranty. There is also another U.K. dealer in the Midlands who also states a two year warranty, I wonder if his is wrong also?

Astell&Kern's warranty period is 1-year from date of purchase, at least here in the US and most other countries that I know of. I am not sure why some dealers would be advertising different warranty periods. Looking at one of the older warranty cards I have at home, it does say 2 year warranty in European countries part of the EU and 1-year warranty in non-EU countries in Europe. Maybe since the UK left the EU, the warranty period is only one year now? I am not sure, as I am just a dumb American. As a consumer, I would assume if they are offering a warranty term on their website, then they are responsible for honoring it, even at their own cost. I would also assume if you purchased the player while the UK was part of the EU, those warranty terms would be in effect, but again, not sure how that is covered under UK law once they left the EU.

@tru6794 I will pass this along to our HQ team and see if I can find out why there are conflicting terms.

@Scorpio1957 can you please let me know what other dealer you saw two years listed? Thank you.

how can you tell you are ordering the correct balanced cable? Amazon had one that mentioned the 599 in the description which is out of stock but This one whilst it mentions the hd1 and not the 599s looks to be identical??

I've been looking at the Astell&Kern SR25. Does the sr 25 have a digital out to send music to a dac or amp with an internal dac? If so, what type of cable options are there. I was thinking of using it to export signal a digital line into a digital rca coax , usb b or optical input on my amp.
Hi @BL36! I do use the SR25 as "transport" and connect it to my Chord Hugo 2 via usb. It works great when I really want to get everything bit of performance out of my A64 U12t.

Thank you very much Jason. I was very upset from the device problem. But got worse when found out about the other.

Just to confirm what I said above about 1 vs 2-year warranties, according to the warranty card included with the player:

All EU member countries are 2-year warranty. All other countries including non-EU member countries are 1-year warranty.

I am assuming some of the UK dealers forgot to remove the two-year warranty line from their websites after the UK officially left the EU at the end of 2020 and change it to 1-year warranty.

Jason, I understand that. But Bexit was 1 January 2020 and I bought my SR25 on 15 June 2020. Almost 6 months after Brexit and they just changed today. That is 18 months.

Another thing. I just started to use 2.5 socket 2 weeks ago then it broke. How can that possible?
