Astell&Kern SA700 - Past meets Present

Vocals just come alive for me when I’m listening to my SA700. Which is what I’m looking for. Double bonus is when the ciem that I’m pairing with is also mids centric. Super crisp mids!

Only thing to note is the short battery life of around 7.5hrs on my 2.5mm balanced cable. But that is ok. Since I myself is clocking in around 4-5hrs of listening pleasure each day.

for me the SA700 is alive, beautiful timbres, yes character :relieved:
With the Denon 7200, lavricable ultimate balanced, an ideal combination for me.

I'm already looking forward to the Sundara, I will get next week

Any recommendations on open back headphones that can be driven solely on the SA700? I currently use my Shure 846 with stock cable with the DAP. Thanks in advance!

I heard the hifiman Ananda for a few days, with the Forza Clair HBK MK2 cables. A very coherent combination.
Voices, instruments and stage are lively and detailed.
Thank you. If I were to add an amp to my set-up, which ones would you recommend? I’m less interested in dac+amp combo, but more of a unit that can utilize the amp part.

Let me know what you think of the Sundara’s when you get them. I am getting mine in about two days with a 2.5 balanced cable.
