Astell&Kern Launches New A&norma SR35 Player
Apr 6, 2024 at 7:11 PM Post #572 of 605
@JasonNYC any idea when the April firmware release will be ready, roughly? I bought an SR35 for walks around the neighborhood w/ Koss Porta Pro and would like to use Roon ARC (offline).
Currently scheduled for April 8 in Korea, which will be late night here in the US on the 7th. If there is a change, I will post.

Eagerly awaiting the ARC function. If someone gets the update, let us know. :)
Just got the update 1.14 notification this morning... and successfully installed.
RoonARC 1.0.48 is now available to download in Open Services.

I don't see an option in RoonARC to select the microSD storage for downloads rather than the internal storage, which is limited. Am I just not seeing the option to switch storage devices? If not, any idea if this is something that will be addressed at some point?

Yes, that's too bad.

Also, ARC doesn't bypass Android's 48 kHz limit. Sucks big time. Is this a Roon or A&K issue? @JasonNYC

Roon issue. They have been saying since the release of Roon Arc that they will eventually have bit-perfect streaming available on DAPs with Roon Arc, was supposed to be 2nd quarter of 2023. No new news since about October 2023.

Bit perfect streaming is only available on Roon Arc when using a USB Dongle and enabling the beta USB driver option in the app. It's been a beta feature for almost a year at this point.

For storage, don't remember if you can select microSD card. Will check in a few minutes. Again, a Roon issue as they design and maintain the app. Nothing to do with AK.

That's what I thought. They badly need to fix this. But I'm happy it's out and that it works, albeit a bit sluggish.

It's fixable anyway since UAPP has done this for quite some time. Maybe add support for UAPP on SR35? That would be awesome.

I love Roon and use it almost every day, but Android support has always been poor. It took AK almost 3 years to develop Roon Ready capability for bit-perfect streaming on Android devices since there was no Android-based OS devices to do it before and Roon did not have the option in any of their apps. We had to develop it from scratch. Have high hopes with the Harmon/Samsung purchase that there will be some interesting Android-based developments in the future since Samsung is a leading Android developer.

Hi, I have read 18 pages but I could not find the answer. Coming from SR25 (MK1), is it noticable step up? Sound quality wise. If yes, how? Thanks.

edit: I read it all, but no info, thanks for answer.

Ooooo. Nice to see another under $1000 USD hit the market. It will be interesting to see how this is reviewed.

I think the main reason is smoother / faster UI due to improved specs, definitely 4.4mm if you're using that and a different Quad DAC setup that provides different sound sig.
