Astell&Kern Launches KANN ALPHA Digital Audio Player
Apr 20, 2022 at 12:58 PM Post #1,921 of 2,083
Does anyone experience a problem where an album has the wrong song orders on the Kann Alpha? I've checked the album and song's metadata and they seem correct. Anyone got the same problem and if so whats the solution?
Thanks
I have the same problem (with Astell Kern SR25). Does not apply to all albums, but especially albums with many tracks are affected, e.g. with Super Deluxe Sign O the times the album starts with song 32. ID3 tags are correct and also worked before the last firmware. @JasonNYC

Hello @JasonNYC - I'm unable to save custom EQ profiles (or at least they will not persist after shutting the device down if I can save them) since the last firmware update.

Is this something anyone else is having trouble with?
There was another post back on April 11th if you scroll up. I was not able to reproduce the issue. I created multiple custom EQs and they kept after turning on/off multiple times over multiple days. Was also tested on a different KA player and no issues.

I did pass this off to the dev team to look into, but as it was only affecting 1 person and myself and another here could not reproduce it, it is in the list to look at. Now that there are more than one report, I will bump into a priority issue to look at.

I just confirmed again that the ones I created last week did save and are available and was able to create new ones that saved.

@JasonNYC It seems a lot more albums than I thought were affected. Hope this can be fixed soon! Thanks

Hey, I've found a bug with the Kann Alpha's Bluetooth Sink on Windows. I've attached a screenshot of the codecs supported by my wifi card and the Kann. My wifi card really seems to like SBC, but it *can* do other codecs. I usually have the bluetooth setting on LDAC as standard.

When selecting "aptX" or "SBC" instead of LDAC, the sound is significantly degraded. If I select LDAC, there's a definite improvement, but the Kann is still giving me SBC on the display which is weird.

Let me know what you folks think, if it's a bug or not, and if it can be fixed.

I really just want to force "aptX" on windows honestly.
What version of Windows are you experiencing the issue with?

I have a MacBook pro 2021 with the M1 max chip. @JasonNYC posted for the Astell & Kern SR25 on March 24, 2022 "firmware update coming March 28 for the SR25 Fix for connection issues when using a Mac with M1 chipset". Are there any problems with the Kann Alpha and the M1 max chip? Has the issue been resolved with Firmware v. 1.31?
Can I just use Android File Transfer on my MacBook pro 2021 with the M1 max chip?

Stupid question maybe, but can you just fill the microSD with music (kopy paste) on your Macbook pro and then just put it in your Astell & Kern Kann Alpha? Doesn't the Kann Alpha scan your MicroSD every time?

Thanks for the answers.

SDs are designed to go directly in to the PC, using them via a source usually makes transfers much slower :)

The M1 fix was implemented on the KANN ALPHA in the v1.31 firmware.

Just picked up the Alpha the other day,the most I have spent on a dap in quite a few years first impressions were good I love the brick type daps and it looks like my old dx100 from a distance but c,mon only 2.4ghz wifi the same as the dx100 using wifi on a dual band router is impossible unless you split the ssid channels then it is acceptable and no drop outs unless you are on Tidal then some albums just skip and tracks only play for about 10 seconds,I have an AK70 which also has 2.4 and I never had these problems with tidal and didnt need to split the wifi channels so c,mon AK what is going with this dap and will these bugs get fixed and why only 2.4ghz in a £1000 dap?
Apart from all this I still love it😁

It looks like Your Kann Alpha is not on the latest firmware, as, since the last one after one year and a half waiting, I don't have any drop any more even with Qobuz at 192khz which much more bandwidth demanding than the Tidal lossy compressed format.

It is on the latest firmware the dropouts were nothing to do with bandwidth AK connect was disabled when I wasnt even playing music it has very poor wifi implementation
