Does anyone know if there is a way to set a sort of “default“ start-up volume on A&K products? I’d prefer to have my player turn on with a lower volume level, no matter how loud I was listening when I powered it down.

If you are on the firmware v1.21 the Cube turns on with volume level 40 no matter how it was before turning it off.
For me it is a bit annoying, I preferred the way it was on v1.16 - after turn on the same level as before turn off. My normal listening level with Empyrean is 60 in the morning, 76-78 in the evening on high gain.

Thanks for that info! I had no idea it was a firmware situation. I also have an A&K SR25 whereas it always turns on at the level I turned it off on.

On the train is difficult to get high quality music due to the constant environment noise and the risk of damage for expensive and sensitive equipment plus the requirement for good portability. Best suite the ones tailor made for it: foldable noise cancelling HPs. I tried for a few weeks a Sony WH-1000XM3. Robust, good noise cancelling, well foldable, semi hard case. Finally I gave it back, there were too much of good bass for me. If you do not shy the hassle there were a funny method proposed by a fellow Head-fier: use a decent wired iem (e.g Meze Rai Solo or Penta) and put the ANC HP over it without music just for noise cancelling. I tried, it works nicely, just a bit cumbersome to set it up.

What about the B&W P7? Have you bought it finally? Nice to hear that you have upgraded from Kann to Cube. How do you find the difference?

With the Kann Cube and the CD Ripper MK2, I see that there is an option to playback CDs instead of RIP.
Is it possible to playback a CD and have the output sent over optical?
Would make the MK2 have great value as I'll be able to sell off my cd player and save some space.

Yes, you can use the CD-Ripper to play back CDs and MQA-CDs and output via the KANN CUBE over optical.

Apple Music Issue.

I cant get to run Apple Music .. message I am getting is ”Unfortunately, Apple Music has stopped“.

Firmware Version: 1.21CM
Apple Music ver: 3.4.5

Soft reset tried >> Kann cube ON. Pressed power button and Cube switched off in 5-6 seconds. Released button. Waited 10 seconds and switched on again >> SAME ERROR

Can anyone kindly guide / help me.

Unable to copy files onto KANN CUBE

I am using a MAC . Connected using the cable supplied with KANN Cube. It opened first or 2nd time when I was copying Apple Music APK. Since then whenever I connect KANN cube to my MAC desktop, nothing opens or pops up hence can’t copy music onto the player.

Can someone pls help / guide me.

what happen to apk installing? I can't install Tidal after 2.28.1, neither by openService nor APK install (APKpure). Is AK stop supporting Kann Cube???? I have email and left FB comment for at least 6months already. ALL I WANT IS TO INSTALL THE LATEST VERSION OF TIDAL, why do you stop us to do so??

Did you try downloading Android File Transfer and re-installing. This application is pretty bad and requires a lot of restarts but usually it will eventually work as long as you are not playing the Cube at the same time.
Also I think there is a setting for this on the Cube - files vs. DAC.

Based on my experience with the various problems of USB as a high end audio transmission medium, I think it would be better to use optical.

One advantage of optical is that there is no way it can forward electrical noise. Another one is that it avoids the USB connector format issues and OTG cable need.
