Same here, but again, you are talking to a K-On! fanboy who just ordered himself an AK100II K-On! Edition...

Out of curiosity, did you order directly from a retailer overseas? I wouldn't mind having one of my own. Then again, that's AK300 money or a good chunk towards the AK320 that I got to demo for a while at AXPONA.

This one is Japan only, so I have to order it from e-earphone.jp and use Tenso forwarding service.

Good points. I had a AK Jr. and I really liked it and the sound was what I looked for, my only reason for selling it was lack of customer relation. I had talked to them numerous times about one simple fix and waited for months for them to implement it and they never did. That request was to have true random shuffle all music. I had 6000 songs on there but every time I shut it down and turned it on I had to listen to the same thing, I even memorized what was coming next. So to me, right now the onkyo does everything I need it to flawlessly. when I saw that this was going to be released and I can play Tidal with it and it that it does not have ridiculous price, and maybe just maybe the shuffle will work properly, I just may acquire this.

Easy workaround for astell jr shuffle issue, on playback screen press the shuffle button twice (off then back on)after powering back on. This reshuffled and you dont get repeated tracks, if I hasn't worked that out i would have also returned mine, great sound though!

If you don't care about DSD and any of the accessory integration of the AK300/320/380 series, then yes the AK100II is more cold and analytical.  However, the iBasso DX50/80/90 will give you pretty much the same sound at about half the price.

I don´t care about DSD, although I have some DSD files on Audirvana that are played in PCM on my Theorem 720.

My questions is: will be there a difference playing 24/192 bit files on AKM4490  or in a Cirrus Logic CS4398?

Yes because the DAC themselves sounded different.  The Cirrus Logic sounds a lot like ESS, and your Theorem 720 has the older AKM4396, which is the predecessor to the current AKM4490.  I haven't heard the 720, but my guess is that it should sound somewhat similar to the AK300 DAC wise.

I love the sound of my Theorem 720, plus the battery life is quite remarkable. The only downside, from me, is the background noise with sensitive IEM´s. But the fact is, when the music is playing, except quiet classical music passages, the hiss is gone.
I can´t wait to hear some feedback from people who listened to the ak300. I was just about to buy the ak100II but now I think I´ll wait for some sound impressions.
I see you have the Layla´s and ak380 combo. That must be heaven on earth :)

I should have my AK100II buy early June, so I will know more for sure.  My AK380Cu is very nice, but I just don't use it enough so I am selling.

I just don´t have budget for an ak380... :frowning2:
Is there a reason you pick the AK 100II over the AK300? They have the same price tag. I´m sure the 100II is smaller making it more pocket friendly than the ak300.

I got it!

AK clearly need to come out with a Cu version for the AK300.

The 100II can be bought used for way less than the 300 will be until they have been out a while.

I am only getting it because it is the K-On! special edition, other wise the VC Valoq or AK300 will be much better pick.
