Astell & Kern AK70 MKII with dual DAC

I am looking for an upgrade from my little Ak Jr. I’m wondering is it worth spending extra for the SR15? (Posting it here since I’m more leaning toward the Ak70). The AK70 mkii can be bought for a lot cheaper. I don’t really care about streaming services, and I can live with the horrible UI of the Ak Jr for the past 3 years, so nothing can be worse. On the other hand, people have recommended the SR15 a lot, saying that it is much much better than the AK70 mkii.

What I’m looking for is a dap with a dark background and natural sounding. I got spoiled by the clarity and silence of the Q1 mkii, but apparently the Ak Jr plug in to an external dac.

P/s: I’m considering the Ak300 as well. I’m just not good with specs to understand the difference between AK and CS chip

SR15 is the best sounding device, very close to the original AK240...AK70MKII is more dark sounding than both

Hi, can Ak70ii drive power hungery cans like upto 300 ohms with authority?
Not to their full potential. I just bought an AK70 mkii and listening with HD660S and HD700 using the 3.5mm unbalanced output is fairly enjoyable and gets loud enough but definitely leaves in the headphones compared to my desktop system. 2.5mm output should be better, but I couldn't try since I don't have a balanced cable. And these headphones impedance is only 150 ohm.

Question about bt and aptx-hd.

I've just built a CSR-8675 module based amp. My phone connects via LDAC (whoop!) but the ak70 says connected via aptx, not aptx-hd.

Has anyone seen a message indicating aptx-hd? The reason I ask is that the module shouldn't support LDAC, just aptx-hd so I'm wondering if they've disabled aptx-hd and replaced it with the LDAC codec....

You were not authenticated with Tidal's server correctly. Log out and log back in and it should fix the issue.

It may be due to being logged into Tidal on another device or computer. If so, log out of these first before logging out of your Tidal account, turning your AK70ii off. Leave for a minute, then turn back on (yes, I know!) then log back in to Tidal. Hope this solves your issue.
