Amazon works yes although in terms of returns, shipping is now verging on extortion between RoW and NZ.

For example I have a custom seat for my Can Am Spyder being made in the USA at the moment and shipping alone is US$250.

Sony Z1R headphones aren’t available in NZ as an example. If I ordered them from B&H, shipping and taxes add US$770 to the cost! And I’d have no warranty here so would have to ship them back to the USA if required.

Unless a product has international warranty - something a lot less common than it used to be - it’s not really worth the hassle of getting it overseas.

I’m thinking I might grab a pair of the Denon 9200 which are on sale at the moment for the equivalent of US$1200.

At that price they seem like a good buy. My age related hearing loss will probably tame any tendency to brightness too!

Just coming back to some 2cs...

You'll enjoy the Denons, as they are musical and offer a great value for the money.
In sync with the SP3000, they do a great job at retrieving what this great DAP throws at them.
Just to repeat my warning, at some point you may find that the SP3k delivers so much information, that it cannot be handled by just any pair of headphones, and eventually an upgrade will make sense, technically and stage wise I found.

It is fun at this point that you try some good gear and get a feel for what the SP3k can do.

I ended up where I bought the iec 711 and using custom 20 band where Q is 1-4 and gain is between -5-+5 to the semi parametric eq (advanced eq)

Looking for some help. I've been using the SP3000 for a few months now, very happy with it. I never got around to trying the DAR upsampling so I wanted to try that today. However, I am getting static with DSD and silence with PCM. At first I thought it was Roon but when I logged into the Tidal app I got the same results. The only songs that sound normal with DAR are MQA songs. Maybe they can't be upsampled? I restarted the device, tried a different IEM, tried all the DAC filters, disabled Roon. No change with any of those actions. I then also tried two types of reset: settings and full factory data. No luck. I also put in an SD card and tested with offline files, same result.

I would appreciate any suggestions. Maybe @JasonNYC? Thanks.

I just tried with Apple Music and local files in different bit depth etc. and it works as always for me. When switching DAR on or off, the music skips for a split second, then plays as normal.

The only difference is with MQA, there is no skip. Probably, as you suggested, because these can’t be upsampled.

I thought this was only a software feature so your problem makes me wonder. Are you on the latest firmware version?

Yes, 1.35CM is the version of my device, as well. I think you tried everything you could. I would send it in unless @JasonNYC has another idea what you could additionally try?

Maybe food for thoughts. When I used the SP3000 as an external DAC/AMP with my iPad and Apple Music, sometimes something went wrong when the music quality changed between songs (e.g. from 16 to 24bit etc.) and I also heard scrambled noise or static. Then I had to change back and forth to another song and it worked as normal again.

Try a soft reset to see if that fixes the issue. Press and hold the power button while the player is on for 10 - 12 seconds until the player turns off. Press the power button again to turn it on. It could possibly be a stuck background process causing the issue and that will clear it.

Didn't see that you already tried a full reset. A soft reset most likely will not do anything then, but I would recommend trying it. Will check when the team is back in the office tomorrow.

Next SP3000 firmware update is around the 21st of this month. I haven't seen the changelog yet, only know Apple Classical app will be supported after that firmware update.

Hmmm. I recently started using DAR and fell in love with it, and have not noticed this either. Reboot, maybe restore it, and see?

As my post mentions, I tried almost everything I could think of, including a full factory reset. Will do a soft reset next, as suggested by Jason.

Sorry if I missed this, but have you tried with tracks stored in internal memory or microSD card or only streaming music or offline content from the streaming services?

I saw you mentioned Roon, Tidal and offline tracks, but not PCM files saved on the player from your own collection.

Yes, I tried it with my own files on an SD card as well.

I just tried the soft reset but as expected that did not help either. Alas.
