Hi ! With the DAR active, which is the option you prefer, between PCM and DSD?
Mostly DSD, but sometimes it really depends on the recording and genre…

Usually DSD with red book but PCM with hirez 96k and up.

Not sure of the battery drain with Dar, have not had enough time to investigate. Dar to me sounded best with redbook, I’ll add the difference is subtle.
not as subtle as say, the difference in playing with the filters, to me, the filter are almost indistinguishable.

Also, what's the process for moving files from local memory to the sd card once the transfer is complete?
Does anyone know of a method for moving files from local memory to sd card from the device itself? What's the point of file drop if you can't get the files on the appropriate (larger) storage location?

With DAR, you're bypassing the default filters anyways. The one that's most impactful (hard note edges) is "fast roll-off" and the default short delay fast roll-off has typically a more up-front staging than "fast roll-off". Super slow roll-off is the smoothest and is meant for peaky IEM treble. "slow roll-off" is a softer sounding version of fast roll-off with imaging closer to super slow roll-off. Short delay slow roll-off has the same soft note edges but with collapse soundstage that's worse than super slow roll-off and other DAC filters.

None of the above matters with DAR turned on though
Man, thanks a lot for this. Best post of the entire thread if you ask me.

The filters make such a difference. there's a post a couple of pages back that explains really well the different sound quality of each one. I will quote that.

Has anyone noticed yet how enabling/disabling gapless playback also change the sound
just curious do you own the player? If you do, and hear the differences great. i’m aware of the filters implementations and own a few Dac’s that have similar implementations, they all make little to no difference and agsin if they do, it’s a very subtle differences. Oh, and going from gapless to not, makes zero difference to me, I just tried and couldn’t discern difference's.

Solved my tracks playing out of order. It appears it sorts the tracks alphabetically so putting a 0 in front of 1 to 9 in the file name sorts that. I find it strange it does not use the track number as do most players or give you the option. Now I need to figure why the artist shows “unknown” when both artist and album artist tags are filled and the same. Does anyone know the tagging convention for AK?

Yeah, I think I’ve noticed that some albums that were playing the tracks in the right order on my SP2000 are out of order on the SP3000.

Had the same issue when I swapped out card from my SPK2 random unknown artists (Flac). I ran them through a tag editor on mac which fixed the issue but it took me a whole day !!
