Hey Jason! Is there any chance you could pass on the request to make the navigation bar an optional feature in the next firmware update?

Also, another question I had: is there a possibility that a similar recording module to the AK300 line's AK recorder module for vinyl to DSD rips could come to the SE180?

Thank you for the bump. I did pass on your suggestion about possibly including a toggle on/off setting for the navigation bar.
Regarding a recorder module, I will certainly pass that suggestion along also.

Hey @JasonNYC ,
could you also have the team look into performance improvements for future updates. Specifically, when in 'Album' and using the view that shows both the album art and name--cover art can take a while to load in after scrolling for a bit and then stopping (typical 3-6 seconds, sometimes longer). Likewise, when clicking on an album it usually freezes for a second or two or stutters before opening the tracklist for that album. Both of these issues are pretty much non-existent on the (supposedly less powerful) SR15 using the same exact card and settings.

I think if they can iron out some of the performance issues than the SE180 will be a true beast of a machine! Thanks in advance.

I will pass this feedback on. Thank you.

Now, i finally receive the SEM2 module for my SE180 and i can do a comparison between the 2 available modules:
SEM1: the first module, no dissapointment in my first listen, clean sound, neutral, bass with good rumble, transition within mids and highs is neutral and it’s some smoothness in the highs, good for neutral and neutral-warm headphones, not so good for warm headphones.
SEM2: this is what i looking for with this release, more vivid sounding module, good bass but a bit more in the tight side, more forwardness in the mid and mid high sector and generally more crispy and detailed highs, this is good for neutral to warm headphones.

This module has the same tonality of the SP2000, but a step below technically speaking…wait, but this is something i remember…yes, this is quite similar to the SP1000, i can’t tell you this is perfectly identical, but i think it’s quite near.

On the other hand, i don’t think that the changes within modules are very subtle, the variation in the tonality is easy to identify, and I hope there will continue to be innovation in the next modules, not just the copy of the old DAPs tonality for each module.

the sistem of the module exchange is excellent, secure and easy to swap.

@JasonNYC

Hey Jason! Is there any chance you could give any information at all about the upcoming SEM3 module such as the DAC maker or what quarter it is aimed to be released in?

Also, I noticed that treble on both released modules has a bit of harshness when compared to the SR25. The SR25 also has an airiness and soundstage that I am not able to get out of the SE180 with either modules. Is this because of the amp in the SE180 or is it because of the SR25's DAC sound signature? If a Cirrus Logic DAC module was to be released for the SE180, would it match or surpass the SR25's sound signature?

Thank you in advance.

this is maybe some kind of headphone match problem?
the SE180 is near, if not equal to the SP1000, the airiness and soundstage of the SR25 should be inferior because of the best extension in the highs of the SE180 🤔🤔

Hmm possibly; I use JH Audio Jolene. Excellent detail and instrument separation, but overall tone is harsh in the treble. Do you know how I could counterbalance this with EQ?

Jolene it’s a warm headphone, maybe SR25 it’s more on the neutral side, and for this reason appears to you as a better match…

in this page you can find several EQ for headphones, but Jolene still doesn’t appear, but maybe you can adapt the EQ from the JH Audio IEM with the frecuency response curve more similar to Jolene.

In the other hand, maybe with the bass attenuator you can find a perfect configuration

The only info that I currently have on the SEM3 module is that it is planned for release some time in the 4th quarter of this year. Do not know any other details at the moment.
