Does anyone have any experience with these two? I hear ASIO output greatly increases sound quality.

So, I've tried searching for a Mediamonkey compatible ASIO plug-in to no avail. Upon finding one, I'm not even sure how to install it and make it work with my soundcard. I have a Chaintech AV-710. If anyone could please post a simple step by step on how to get ASIO output from mediamonkey, while utilizing the AV-710, I would be very appreciative. Thank you.

ASIO output for MediaMonkey works w/ "ASIO for Winamp" plug-in - http://otachan.com/out_asio(dll).html

Just extract the out_asio(dll).dll into "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins".
After starting MM, just activate the mode in Output Plug-ins section and configure.

If your card is not ASIO compatible, you need to install Asio4All - http://www.asio4all.com

Also, MM works w/ Kernel Streaming for Winamp too - http://www.stevemonks.com/ksplugin/
and all plugi-ins, meant for Winamp, I have tried works ~well too (only some minor issues like, plugin needs to be re-enabled sometimes to get 'activated'):

- nice EQ - http://www.aixcoustic.com/index.php/..._edition/30/0/
- VST support - http://www.savioursofsoul.de/Christian/Programs.htm
--- some VST plugins
- DX support - http://perso.wanadoo.fr/vb-audio/us/...ack/dxrack.htm

If you can see ASIO drivers listed as an option when you configure the out_asio(dll) then you have one/some ASIO drivers installed.

Maybe ASIO support is possible when flashed to some other Envy24 based card (maybe someone w/ modded card can answer this, also IIRC, you'll find instructions by searching this site)

From what I've heard, it's really easy to get foobar set up with ASIO. I'm not up for setting up foobar just yet, though. I have Mediamonkey working just fine for me.

Any idea how to get this gapless playback working now?

AFAIK, only foobar2000 supports gapless playback.
I still wondering is there another media player supports that?

Not sure what the acronym means, but Mediamonkey supports gapless playpeck when used in junction with the DirectSound output. It only takes a few minor buffer adjustments to get it working perfectly.

I agree about MM (MediaMonkey). FYI, AFAIK is short for "as far as I know".

So you're a Mediamonkey user as well? Seems rare in these parts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gapless_playback

Did you enable the "gapless mode" option on driver settings panel (both, ASIO and Kernel Streaming output plugin does have this option available)? Also, I can't say if gapless playback works w/ asio4all or at all in this case, since those output plugins are prepared for Winamp.

As the MediaMonkey
- accepts Winamp plug-ins
- supports ASIO and Kernel Streaming
- supports VBScripting

among other functionality, I wonder if it don't get more users from these forums too.

I'd like to use Kernel Streaming with MM, but I can't get the plugin to work. I installed the plugin into the MM plugin folder, and when I choose the Kernel Streaming plugin, it tries to play the song, but then it immediately turns that song title grey and skips to the next song, turning that song title grey, etc etc etc. I am using a Creative Audigy 2 NX also if that helps. Can anyone offer any ideas/advice?

Thanks!

I recently upgraded to the newest MM (2.5.4 I think?), and am experiencing problems with the Kernel Streaming plugin as well. Which version of MM are you using? It worked fine with me before the upgrade. Pretty sure my last version was 2.5.3.
