Your syntax is a bit confusing in that first sentence and might confuse people. For the record, Trey Songz ripped off Sakamoto. He sampled Sakamoto's composition "Bibo No Aorora" for his song 'Can't Be Friends":

Yeah, I realized after rereading that I could've written that sentence more clearly.  Trey Songz sampled Sakamoto.  Hopefully Sakamoto (or whoever owns the rights to 'Bibo No Aorora') was compensated for it.

Anyway, per wind's request:

Dude, those are some great song choices Elysian! All the songs caught my attention within the first 10 seconds.

What's your opinion on Aya Kamiki and NICO Touches the Walls? I find some similarities.

Midicronica is pretty kick ass. San Francisco and G are my favorite tracks by them

This kind of reminds me of Orange Range. Wish I understood Japanese rap lol Nice chill song. =)

Thanks for the kind comments wind and everyone else :)  Sorry for not being too communicative here.  I keep thinking of songs I think might be worth sharing, but then I get sidetracked and forget to post.

That Aya Kamiki is great, and is probably my favorite song of her's (along with Pierrot).  Doesn't hurt that she's a former idol, too.  I'm unfamiliar with NICO... just from the song you linked, I can hear the similarities in melody, but Aya Kamiki feels a lot more manufactured to me, whereas those NICO guys seem to be much more authentic musicians (in terms of owning every aspect of the composition).

Midicronica is good, too (though, unfortunately, the rest of the album didn't live up to San Francisco IMO), and was one of the highlights of Samurai Champloo!

Here are a few more along a different vein which you guys might like.

Thanks Sinue. I still kinda prefer the classic rap styles used by EPIK HIGH/Kensie/Dynamic Duo/TBNY etc but your videos are really growing on me

OMG I listened to this single the first week it was out when it was chosen as ending theme for Ah Megamisama! 6 years gone fast T_T

Can't help but listen to the Chinese version of "Goodbye Baby." Seems interesting. Unlike other groups that imitate Chinese, half the members of Miss A are actually Chinese.

That MV reminds me of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" MV. >_<

I recently checked out this album from the library since the album cover looked cool, hahahaha. The songs on this album remind me of the Vocaloid phenomenon.

Perfume - ⊿

I don't particularly enjoy this song, but my brother used to listen to it and I found it hilarious that they actually made a song/MV about AMOLED screens...

After School - 아몰레드 (AMOLED)

Hah! A fellow Tokimonsta fan! She makes some sick beats. Another good female beatmaker is Urban Romantic City.

I noticed you posted one of the Standing Egg's song feat the female vocalist from 3rd coast.

This might interest you.

Many electronica artists seem to use this type of 'instrument,' does anyone know what it is?

There are generally three types of MIDI controllers/instruments with that type of layout.

The earliest and most common is the Akai MPC series, which is a sampling workstation, and each pad you hit can represent a drum sound or a sample or trigger a MIDI note. The pads are bigger than the ones in that video--more like large square-shaped stamps. Drum machines also use that type of triggering surface.

The second most popular is the type with much smaller pads and more of them, like the one in the video. They're basically controllers for Ableton Live, which is a very popular DAW/Sequencer among loop-based musicians (hip-hop, electronic). If you read up on Ableton Live, you'll understand why the buttons for these types of controllers are laid out in perfect rows and columns like that.

The third type is the Tenori-On, which is usually just rows and rows of dots that you turn on and off, without much other controls.

TOKiMONSTA isn't really an Asian artist, though, given that she was born and grew up in LA (doesn't even qualify as fob)

Even Lena Park and Nicole Jung (KARA) are much more 'Asian' with respect to their careers.
