I hear that it's hard to make the ART DI/O lock onto the digital bitstream reliably. I suppose this would be even worse with a pcdp? Has anyone tried this?

I have an ART DI/O and use the Denon DCM370 as transport. My experience has been that the ART never fails to lock.

I've read some posts where the ART will lose lock as the disc changes, but I haven't had that problem either.

I'm using a $75 digital cable from Bolder Cables. I'm not sure how much of a difference the cable makes.

I've also had the full suite of mods done by Bolder Cables. Again, I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes.

For what its worth, the ART sounds absolutely fantastic to my ears. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap upgrade to a decent, mid-fi type cdp.

The DI/O locks on all the time with my Denon 370 too. It also works with my pioneer 525 dvd player. I don't know how well it would do with a pcdp, but very few pcdps have coaxial digital outs anyway. I'm using a radio shack digital cable, and my DI/O is unmodified but has the stancor power supply.
