I Have.

So have I!
Ok, not quite sure if I made it below the 3.0 second mark. But the Honda CBR1000RR I drove was fully capable of doing so.

Nothing beat the rush of hitting 120Km/h on 1st. gear, 180Km/h on 2. gear and 240Km/h on 3. gear. Woah!

Hey Santa. I'd like to offer storage space and the excellent mechanic services of my friend, an ASE certified master level mechanic, here at the Palm River Garage (just 5 miles east of Downtown Tampa.) He'll keep it in top form and of course exercise it a bit while you're down on the island. Any time you get up to Florida I'll be happy to bring it to you free of charge!

Both would be incredibly boring to drive after one lap in an Atom.

So you're a dentist with a mid-life crisis then?

Wayne...uber congrats!! I contemplated ordering one about six months ago but my unfortunate financial situation got the best of me. I absolutely cannot wait to read your impressions. Do they have tracks in the Caymans? Going from a TA to the Ariel is going to be something special.

Santa really treated himself this year. Rudolph will not be able to keep up.

Thanks, man. No, this car is going to stay in the States, in Florida most of the time but I intend to do lots of road trips from there. I'm in the US about 20-30% of the time already, and this will give me reason to make it more like 50%.

Mercy! 0-60 in 2.67 seconds and only 2 wheels! For some reason I'm comforted by having 4 wheels (the Atom can't really fall over), a roll bar, fire extinguisher, etc.

It sure will be some long 7 months, but hopefully worth it at the end...

I've been waiting longer than that for a certain, rather exquisite, balanced head amp. Now that's torture!

Good advice about wearing a helmet at all times. The basic advice from Atom onwers is that you can get by with racing goggles so long as you're keeping it at 30 mph or less, like grocery store runs. After that, you really need a helmet because (if for no other reason) the intake is immediately behind your right ear!

I'll probably end up with a 245hp engine before my car is built because I'm not good at resisting temptation, but defintely not a 300 (at least not right away, that's something I can upgrade to a year or more down the line).

Thanks for the offer, Matthew. Actually, at this point, I have no idea where I'm going to keep it! Preferably somewhere in the general Miami/Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale area. My place there only has a car port and it's not the best neighborhood to begin with (not bad, but certainly not gated). It could probably be enclosed, but any time you want to do anything that involves a hammer and nails and an existing house in Florida, you have to deal with endless red tape for months on end.

As much as I'm sure I'll have countless offers just like the one you're describing, there are very few insurance companies that will touch the Atom and the few that do will only allow ONE driver (i.e., the insured owner). So unfortunately, or maybe fortunately in some senses, I'll be the only legal driver. Faced with that reality, I suspect that your friend's spirits would be dampened ever so slightly!

theres a company that makes something a tad faster then the atom, and with an optional v8 much like dp is doing, 365hp in a 1000lb car would be insane

Cool. Thanks for the link. I'm really kind of new to all of these cars. The Atom purchase was not the most well researched decision I've ever come to, but it fell squarely in the "You only live once" category. That, and the pressure of an upcoming price increase kind of made me 'shiester or get off the pot' as it were.

There is actually at least one Atom in the UK with an aftermarket 450hp engine. Don't know if it has ever been time tested.
