Are you a good person, morally?

I can find no relevant connection between ones weight and their moral values.

Sin of gluttony, perhaps?

Also, I don't believe in 'morals'.

I'm just curious to know. This is a completely anonymous poll. When I say "good person morally", I mean you don't ever lie, cheat, steal, etc... Not just limited to that, they are just examples. Of course I suppose if a person lies, they may be lying on the poll!

Well by this definition, I'd say no one is. Everyone tells a little white lie every now and then. So count me out.

Well actually, your comment is what I was referring to.

Yeah, I understand what you meant. It seems like so many people I've come across lately do define their morality in very narrow absolutes, and look on others with much prejudice, and mortal offense at things that would effect them in no way at all.

For my part, I would say I try my best while some others would say that I am immoral. No matter how hard you try, someone will take offense at how you lead your life.

It reminds me of a lyric on a Joan Osborne album - "The preacher was talkin', there's a sermon he gave. He said 'Every man's conscience is vile and depraved. You cannot depend on it to be your guide, when it's you who must keep it satisfied.'"

I have flaws like everyone else, but yes, morally, by most peoples standards I am a good person. I do my best every day to wrong no one and help anyone I can every time I can. I do not remember the last time I lied, I always try to do the "right" thing, I have never cheated on a girlfriend, and I never rip anyone off. I suppose that counts, but again, I am certainly not without my flaws.

I realize this thread is going to open a can of worms to the tune of, "what ARE morals", "who's standards are we going by", "We all tell white lies" etc. etc., but I feel I am putting in enough effort to be a good human being to qualify for the nod.

As Frued; “Men are more moral than they think and far more immoral than they can imagine.”

I voted no, I don't try to keep to standards that I've set for myself though I do try to be a decent person. The definition of "decent" varies wildly depending on location and the people around me.

As a left-leaning pacifist vegetarian agnostic and celibate (at the moment) I put 'yes'. One or other of these principles might change in time (I hope).
