Legal in Calif only if you are not driving for hire or driving a commercial vehicle (not including pickup trucks) I have a Valentine 1 in my '04 Lightning. The guy that designs and makes the V1s used to be an engineer for those escort dectectors.

They're legal in Jersey. I don't use one, since my 6 mile commute is bearable enough without speeding, but my dad, who drives 50+ miles a day to work, uses a Valentine One.

Here in BC they are legal to sell and purchase, but illegal to use. I believe you get a fine if you get pulled over and have one hooked up.

That said, many use them anyway and ensure that they're easy to stow in the glove box etc. if they get pulled over.

It's interesting. They're legal in GB but not legal in Germany.
It would be interesting to hear about the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Russia, and many more.
How about South America (Brazil, Argentina,....) and also Central America and of course Mexico.
How about so advanced technologically country like Japan?

Today is Friday the 13th!!!

Legal in Arkansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Hawaii, Texas, and Ohio. Illegal in Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Those are just the states I've lived in and used a radar detector in, including VA and D.C.

(My wife is in the Air Force, so I've seen a lot of states.)

Went to Canada once, but I wasn't brave enough to risk losing my Passport so I left it at home. Never saw a cop.

The best thing about the valentine one is that it can indicate the direction that the radar/liadar signal is comming from and how many different signals. It also indicates any signal from a Junk (inferior) dectector, since all detectors send out their own radio frequencys. It can also be sent back to V1 for feature upgrades for nominal cost without canning the whole unit.

Due to precedence of Federal Law over State Law, Radar Detectors are LEGAL in all 50 states...but if you are found to be operating one in Virginia and one other state, they "Tax" you however many you have in operation when the officer pulls you over, plus a jurisdictional surcharge...

Virginia contends that operation of one is "intent to speed" and as an illegal activity, subjects you to arrest.
