I know that laser/radar detectors are not legal int the Toronto area in Canada.
How about other countries like Germany, England, France, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, China, Japan, ...?
How about states like Texas, Ohio, New York, ...?

I have Passport 8500 (the previous version without the suffix 'X50'):

See also here: Radar/Laser detectors and Passort 8500 X50

They're legal in California. I wonder how to understand the legality of this fact.
Here I have a device which allows me to break the law and this is legal!

In the meantime I'm switching my Passport 8500 on and 'flying' and playing:
Breaking the Law

See you on the Passport 8500's

My buddy thought he was slick by getting a jammer, until he got pulled over and the cop strait asked him where it was on the car. I guess the police can see they got jammed on the gun so not only did my buddy have to pay a huge fine but considering the Jammer was wired to the car he couldn't take the car back until the court's were done..well actually I am not sure why they had the car as long as they did..

anyway its very illegal here around me, not worth being slick....slick

I rather go diffuser either know you don't have a good chance to get away but you still don't have anything that is not legal and will get your car impounded..and you impounded in jail..

Well here where I am they're perfectly legal, so are radar detectors and jammers. However, if I were living were you are and it's illegal to have them in passenger veichles, then yeah I would consider something else.

Nope, you aren't allowed to use those over here.

Greetings from Munich!

I think you mean Britain! ;D

Over here its illegal to use possess or own a radar jamming device, anything which interferes with the speed test equipment. However, police are obligated to make the locations of all fixed cameras available on enquiry. They must also make available information on where the mobile speed traps will be over a given time period.

This information gets hoovered up by the "detector" you use. Which isn't a detector at all. It just has the locations loaded into it, it'll go off even if there doesn't happen to be a speed trap there at the time, if the police are maybe using that area during that period.

They are marketed often as accident blackspot warning alarms or such. Which is realistic, as the police tend to set up speed trap at accident blackspots. I wont get into the speeding=accidents? debate as that's off topic.

The warning devices are perfectly legal.

The trouble is that many people are confused over the differences in the devices. A device which actually actively detects or even worse, jams, a police device is illegal, but a device which only has loaded into it the publicly available knowledge of where these police traps will be, and then its kind enough to automatically inform you when you enter one such spot, that's fine.

Jamming is something different.
The device I am using is just a Laser/Radar detector.

As I said above a friend of mine told me that in Toronto area in Canada
one cannot use any Laser/Radar detectors.

I don't know about other American states, like VA, ME, etc.
What about Germany, Italy, France, Mexico, and the rest of the world?
We're talking about detectors.

P.S.
Regarding Great Britian: I used this widely acceptable term on this site
(it was my poll) and I was reminded that they were not British.

I've always heard that Valentine 1 is the best radar detector you can get. Is this still true?

Illegal in Virginia and legal in California!
We still have way over 40 states to cover.
How about West Virginia? Ha, Ha, ....

It ranks right up there along with the Escort Passport 8500.
