Are manufacturer discontinued headphones generally bad?

LE as in limited edition?
 
Anyway, eventually all headphones will be discontinued but some rarely may be for certain failures/low sales. The important thing is that you read enough threads or reviews on something you are considering that was discontinued to find out if it was any good or not.
 
Also consider the problem that may arise with outdated headphones in terms of warranty being expired, or not available.
 
However, just because something is not made anymore, does not mean that you should be worried, as long as you do research what you are buying.

Whats the question here? They are limited edition, as such they are "discontinued by manufacturer" by default - not because there is anything wrong with the model...

Nope, the EX1000 is discontinued and it sounds very nice if you like its sound sig.

Here are a list of discontinued headphones off the top of my head. Read up about them, then decide what the answer to that question is based on these.
 
AKG K501
AKG K1000
Sennheiser HD580
Sennheiser HD540
Sennheiser HE90
Sennheiser HE60
Stax SR303
Stax SR404
Grado HP1000, plus everything that doesn't have the "i" suffix
 
BTW, LE probably means "limited edition." Similarly, the 100th Anniversary Mustang and Lynx RS are out, but so are the Crown Victoria and Pinto.

Short answer: not necessarily. Being outdated just means they can do better, but that doesn't make an older product bad. By comparison maybe, but overall, not necessarily. It depends on which product we're talking about here.
