Hi, been browsing this forum for a couple of days now and this realy is a new world!

Without futher do i would like to state my current gear

FLAC and 320 kbps MP3's (Electronic dance music only, mostly hardstyle and house)

Foobar 2000

Aus Xonar D2X (http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=ZBWhAEnH6nDOB00E&templete=2)

Some great Headphones (not yet purchased)

Im realy not aware of the quality of my D2X DAC (TI Burr-Brown PCM1796 *4 (123dB SNR, Max. 192kHz/24bit)) mainly because i dont have any proper gear to test it with.

Therefore my first idea was to just swap the D2X for a Xonar ST wich would have built in headphone amp and a better DAC (Texas Instruments PCM1792A*1 for Front-Out (127dB SNR, Max. 192kHz/24bit)) and just roll with that, but as i browsed the forum i found out that perhaps the built in amp wasnt very good and to keep my D2X and go digital to an external DAC with or without Headphone amp would be a better deal.

Perhaps the external DAC would be a good idea(?)

@ the moment i got a Z-5500 (http://www.logitech.com/sv-se/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/224) hooked up via analog mini tele  with the D2X for movie watching and such

is it possible to connect a external DAC aswell? would it be a good idea?

What 150-300´$ DAC is recommended ( perhaps with a built in headphone amp) ?

anything to keep in mind?

Is there a better alternative considering what i already own =)

Feel free to comment, rederict etc =)
