Now that apple has high res lossless music available how about we start a thread for the best lightning compatible DAC’s?

obviously there is the apple 3.5mm dongle but this is limited to 24/48 but what else is out there?

we could use a lightning to usb / usb c adapter but this is messy. What DACs plug straight in and give 24/192 bit perfect playback?

a few to discuss if we may? Do these allow high res playback?

The Hiby FC3 works well but it does require a USB-C to lightning adapter (sold as a bundle). It works with Atmos and lossless/hi-res. This is also one of the few dongles that was designed not to draw too much power from the iPhone, so no balanced output.

I'm also looking for the simplest way to connect my Iphone to a USB DAC. i tried the Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter and no sound goes to my DAC. Is a different adapter needed? Thanks

I have used both versions of the genuine Apple CCK with my iPhone and iPad on multiple USB DACs without any issues.

Thanks it's weird I tried the second one (the thinner one not the square one), connected it to my USB DAC and when I played music it still came only from the iphone, it didnt go to the DAC.
Is there a setting, something I missed?

Mine defaults to the USB DAC when it's attached (just checked with Dragonfly). Maybe look at the now playing screen and press the Airplay icon to see the output choices.

You were right that was it! Thanks so much. Also, do you know if it allows true high res music playback from Apple music? Or does it downgrade it to CD CD quality?

iPhones and iPads allow full resolution with external USB DACs with no resampling. Obviously it depends on the capability of the DAC. Glad you are sorted!
