Does this headphone exists: AKG K701<<<< .?. <<<<AKG K1000? Also, in the same price range. Except Sennheisers, because i don't like them.

I listen to all kinds of music, so the simple answer will be to tell you what i don't listen to: hip-hop, clasical, heavy metal.

Both the Ergo 2 and the Ergo AMT fall into that price range. Both are better than the K701 IMO. I have not heard the K1000 but I have been told it betters the AMT by some people who have heard both.

Also if you wanted to go electrostatic, the Koss ESP950 and Stax 2020/2050 would both fall into that price gap too.

I guess the K340 would fit the bill, though depending on your preference I would say the scale looks more like this:

K701 <<<<<<<< K340 << K1000

OR

K701 <<<<<<<< K1000 << K340

It is also worth keeping in mind that the K340, in the end, is nearly as expensive as the K1000 when you consider mods and amplification.

...and I consider them about equal, with a slight edge to the K701.

How's that for making decisions easier?

Heh, good question.

For the moment all i have is a m-audio revo 5.1 with .flac files, until i get some more money to buy an amp.
Btw, does an amp makes such a night and day difference in the sound coming from the K701?

lol the k340 at stock I don't know about nor the 701 but a modded Headphile 340 is about $700 and I can compare it favorably to the K1000 which is about $1100 to 1200 atm. So for the $$? The 701 is a good choice. If you find it lacking God help you b/c say goodbye to the wallet lol.

varro/Samgotit - That's what makes this place great. Everyone has their own personal preference and sound they are looking for. It is quite possible that I just haven't heard the K701's on the right rig.

...and the reason why the For Sale forums exists. I wouldn't have attempted to cycle through as many phones/amps with out it.

Buy/Sell Buy/Sell Buy/Sell Buy/Sell Buy/Sell Buy/Sell. Bingo!

It is all about taste, though I wish I could have kept them all.
